Here's a rather disturbing timeline of Activision under Bobby Kotick, btw, to fuel all the WoW haters. Do not be fooled tho...EA has done a lot of the same crap.

here's the Activision link:

here's one about EA:

The writer of the Activision story is MUCH more hostile toward Activision to be sure. But you get the idea

Thanks for the links!

You know, I am speculating and seeing UFOes-laden-with-conspiracy-Chuppacabras-with-Big-Feet here, but this quote from the Kotick article is interesting:

=====================================================

"WSJ: If you could snap your fingers, and instantly make one change in your company, what would it be, and why?

Mr. Kotick: I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow. When you think about what the audience's interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.

WSJ: Is that coming?

Mr. Kotick: Hopefully.

WSJ: Are the customers ready for it?

Mr. Kotick: I think our audiences are clamoring for it. If you look at what they're playing on Xbox Live today, we've had 1.7 billion hours of multiplayer play on Live. I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers. I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven't really had a chance to do that yet, so that would be my snap of the fingers."

=====================================================

Ladies and Gentleman, this is only a hunch and is not well substantiated and may prove to be false, but I think I have figured out what Blizzard's "Titan" is. Especially since we have only one picture/screenshot from it. (And since people love saying it will be "HALO".).

I may be wrong. We will soon see.

Titan is a new IP.

Phrasing can be said a number of ways ("New to Blizzard, but not Activision").

Still, I am only speculating. I can file this away and it probably will never see the light of day in being proven truth.

Still, we can't deny EA does have some say/control over Blizzard in it's years after the buyout. So, it could very well be a brand new, never-before-seen IP....or something that is known, but not told. Heck, the one screenshot we saw could very well be just a window in a Time-Traveling mechanism that players have access to (Players are time travelers).

Again, we'll just see when Titan is revealed.

It's easy to make money when you can write out your own checks, figurehead or not.

I think you should get out your magic underwear, because I believe you're the Mormon, not him.

I'm kinda hoping it does flop... so we don't have to see your same "2012! THE SKY IS FUCKING FALLING!!!!" on every SWTOR article.

@Mtor It won't flop. It won't be the fanboi WoW-killer either. As much as I bag on it, I'd still play a 15 day trial and/or getting the client for $5 on steam. Wouldn't sub past that though.

Finally, did my Beta test this weekend of SWTOR. I thought it was Amazing, the voice acting was the best part. Voice acting and video for all quests. The combat isn't boring and a sleep aid like Rift. The worlds look great and once you hit Tatooine they become 3 times the size, so a speeder is recommended.

Story mode MMO is going to work out great. I could actually be evil and crazy with my Sith and it was all at my choosing. I have no clue what the end game is like so can't comment but as of right now I could play 3-4 months of heavy play just doing 1 of every class.

30-40 servers all at Full or heavy the full weekend no matter the time.

SWTOR is much better than other MMOs. At least for me and i been playing MMO's since 1999. Now if you plan on power leveling to max level to raid and turning off the videos then SWTOR will probably not be much of a game for you. I plan to take my time and relish the game with friends.

I honestly am not sure if you are being sarcastic or not.... I suspect you are being sincere but hyperbolic, but it is difficult to be certain.

@Rhazes : personally I thought the going for quantity over quality on the voicing was a huge mistake. It would have been much better if they'd just voiced the core story quests, and done so with great voice actors, great dialogue, and great direction on the scenes.

Instead we got every kill 10 rats quest voiced by a mediocre voice actor doing either "totally wooden" or "zany and over the top", with large slabs of text being recited that sound nothing like a real conversation. And camera direction that mostly consists of switching between a closeup on the NPCs face, and a closeup on your character's face.

Ummm, pretty much everything you typed out was about as devoid of thoughtful, objective veracity as it can possibly get. Your idle finger time, I think, would be better spent looking up porn and lurching for your gonads than typing out the equivalent of intellectual toxic waste.

The main quest has great voice acting and all the other quests having video and voice acting is just extra toppings. This is way better than the standard quest text with a npc grunting or saying one of 5 words.

Don't forget you can also turn the videos off and just have it on for the main quest and then you can have your quality or quantity.

@Rhazes The only way this awesome game will fail if they go the way of Blizzard with WOW and push too much Raid content every few patches or with expansions. I too have been playing MMO's since UO back in 1999 and I personally would put this up there with one of my best MMO experiences to date.
