The PlayStation blog has been updated with a new blurb on DUST 514, and vehicle freaks will be happy to note that we now have a better understanding of how rolling armor works in CCP's EVE-based MMO shooter.
CCP says that vehicles "play a large role" on DUST's battlefields, with heavy armor units delivering long-range concussive attacks "while lighter units emphasize speed and flexibility." Vehicles are also highly configurable, and players will be given a choice of armaments drawn directly from EVE Online's weapon classes.
Finally, the new blog entry gives us a glimpse of various vehicle aesthetics, and long-time New Eden fans will be pleased to note that the selection has a familiar factional feel (though duty compels us to complain about the lack of a Minmatar entry).

The more I read about this game, the more excited I am for it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't play EVE and doesn't even own a PS3!

Yes, but will you be able to sit in the garage watching them spin around while you troll chat?

@Kalex716. EXACTLY, there was a long thread on the EVE and Dust514 forums asking EVE players how they feel about it and the vast majority are intrigued by the idea...so long as ccp follows through. Which I have no doubt they will!

I absolutely cannot wait for this game! I'm a retired EVE player and i love love love first person shooters. To get some good ground war going within the EVE universe, stoked!

@Kalex716 I'm very skeptical about this game coming to PC. Unless CPP want to piss off PS3 players putting them versus PC players...
The EVE universe is based on only one server, so they can't split the Dust players into different shards. And if they try to implement some kind of splitting - like dividing those players into PS3 and PC corps - is almost certain that this will piss off the entire community of EVE.
With this kind of separation, they will not be able to put a PS3 corp against a PC corp, and this will limit the choices of what corp hire for the EVE players. Is almost certain that in this case, the EVE players will prefer the PC corps over the PS3 ones, shunning the entire PS3 Dust community from the player-made contracts.
See? This would be a hell of a headache!

Hell hath no fury like a nerd who's platform is excluded from development.
As for the game, it looks fantastic and refreshingly innovative provided they can deliver on their promises.
