This week on The MMO Report, Casey treks to Burbank, California, to check out Guild Wars 2's voice-acting studio and interview ArenaNet lead writer Bobby Stein. Stein tells the crew that his team has been working on GW2's voice-overs for three years, resulting in approximately 70 or 80 times the amount of voice work for Guild Wars 1's final installment, Eye of the North.
Casey also interviews a trio of women portraying female Charr characters, but it just wouldn't be an MMO Report field trip if Casey hadn't given the voice acting a try himself. Rising to such stage directions as "he's a cat" and "now try it drunk," Casey receives a hard-earned standing ovation from the sound booth.
All this and more in the MMO Report video tucked behind the break!

If Schreiner's VOs don't make it into the game I will be dissapointed. I honestly think he did a bang-up job.

@Faction 3 Probably not. Looks at guild wars 1, they managed to make it looks amazing without needing anymore graphics than you need to run the cartoonish WoW by comparison.
Don't know how but ArenaNet has a way of using amazing graphics that doesn't need much at all to run.

Wow, Casey's VOs were freaking amazing. I had the same look on my face as the ANet people after his "high and mighty" VO.

@Baromega I'm with these two - Casey, you make one hell of a pompous prick... I mean that in the nicest way possible of course =P

The MMO Report is always amusing and it was great to see them go behind the scenes on Guild Wars 2 VO work.
It would be funny if they did end up using him in the game, probably not for the Lord Faren since that likely needs more VO but maybe as another part.

Yeah, that was pretty good.
Even liked to see more nuances of the Charr behind-the-scenes.

A tip o' the hat to you Mr. Schreiner, that last voice was just sublime!
I'm behind the idea of getting some of that in-game as well, if not as Ferron, as someone because it would be awesome. Who knows, maybe the Noble Human Player-character will be getting that kind of voice all his own.

Interesting episode. I sure hope the GW2 style isn't the halt game play to watch cutscenes style of other games.

@terroni there will be a ton of cutscenes but they will be short to the point and unlike SWTOR : )

Always love behind the scenes, more please! :) And grats Casey for the voice acting, your voice deserve to be in the game!

o.O people actually think they'll need a new computer to run this game? are you kidding? Unlike SWTOR which used old cards that were still available on the market from stores, GW2 used cards they couldn't get anymore from anywhere accept from ebay. I'd love to find out if his VO is in the game in the final product that would be awesome!
