It's hard to believe that after all this time, Star Wars: The Old Republic is launching in less than a month. As you would expect, the game is making its final testing pushes for players. According to Stephen "Rockjaw" Reid's Twitter feed, players selected for the final testing weekend will be seeing schedules sent out over the next 12 hours, with players allowed to start testing either Friday or Saturday, starting at 11:00 a.m. EST. Existing testers and visitors to the site will also have to contend with some degree of maintenance trouble, as the site is experiencing an understandable groundswell of traffic.
The final push also means that the deadline is approaching for players to get in on the Pre-Launch Guild Program, which ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on December 2nd. This means that players who fulfill all the requirements will be able to transfer their guilds straight into the live game -- but they'll have to finalize everything before the deadline. So if you're a guild leader with a few things left to finish up before launch, the holiday weekend might be an ideal time.

Logins for the main swtor.com site are currently offline so if you can't log in to check your guild, post on the forums, etc etc, don't worry. They'll bring logins back online as soon as possible!

I have the beta client all downloaded and ready to go! Very excited for the weekend.
Though getting the client was no easy task, and their website all week has been down more than up. Of course I'm not angry though since that's the whole point of this. It's a good thing they're doing this major stress test, and I hope they learn a lot from this to avoid this situation at launch.

Downloading the client feels like a nightmare if you can't even get the download page from the web server.
Would be nice if they put a torrent on their site to offload the web server and avoid it this "too much information" death.

It's always fun getting in a huge group of players for the weekend I personally will be glad when the game is released and the free 30 days has passed. The very organized hate machine is doing everything possible to sway opinion....it isn't having much effect but it does get tiresome hearing it.

@Dunraven The game isn't even posing as the next coming and never claimed would do anything seriously new. It's a bandwagon to hate this game.

@Dunraven
My theory is that three groups are hating on SWTOR:
1- Those SWG fans who think TOR is to blame for shutting down their game.
2- Those WoW fans who fear that TOR will cause their guildies to quit WoW.
3- Those people who were expecting multi=player KOTOR or ME and had no clue what an MMO was.
Because, honestly, I can not see any other reason for the hatred. I've been beta testing since mid summer and love the game as much now as I did when I first logged in.

@Malagarr ~ honestly.. I wouldn't be surprised.
for me tho, I just have no interest in this sort of game *(WoW with lightsabers).
I've played many games like it and find it boring..
though, more to the point I find that Guild Wars 2 has somewhat spoiled anyone thats new or wanting something different in MMO's.
they've shown us "pretty" and and jaw droping "innovatiion" thus anything that looks or breaths like WoW will be shunned and hated.
just my 2 cents tho.

@Everfaust I see so many people hyped for GW2 and honestly a lot of folks were let down by what they saw at Gamescom this year...I personally liked GW2 because I felt it had more in common with FFXI than WoW.... but they haven't really showed folks the whole ball of wax so to speak and have basically been surviving on hype...that is going to have to end at some point.
In any event there is a good chance we may not even see GW2 in 2012 if you look at the latest voice over video on the MMO report you get the feeling that they are only about at the halfway point in that process...and of course Arenanet has NCsoft looming over them...that company isn't known for patience. All I'm saying is so many people are looking for GW2 to be this great savior and it jmay just let them down,

I can't wait to log in Friday morning and probably not be able to play due to this phase being a stress test, meaning the servers will probably explode.

I can say that the game is worth it. I wasn't very excited for this one, but after getting a character up to level 11 last night, it's actually really fun. The story element is almost worth the price of admission alone.

I would bet the Guild guides or Guild masters, as is the proper definition in a game, will still encounter big troubles on launch. Threads on the TOR forums are already indicating registering problems and home server issues.
