What? It's a long-range mech that handles all ranges?

@shodannet

It could be. The variant they talked about is probably the weakest ( and also the 3025 variant, this game is supposed to take place almost 25 years later) . So yea...

The nice thing about the Dragons and Grand Dragons (grand dragons are supposed to be a follow up to the dragon in btech lore) is that they are 60 ton mechs that go really really fast. Both mechs reach a speed of 80kph, where your typical heavy mech will be at 65kph or so.

Id imagine in they would be phenomenal for flanking the enemy.

It's kind of the way things work in Mechwarrior (which deviated a bit from the board game). Long ranged weaponry such as Gauss Rifles, lighter Autocannons, and even Long Range lasers were just as effective and possibly more deadly at brawling ranges. Only Long Range missiles had difficulty tracking at that type of range.

@Kaahn Stewart Yeah, it just seems odd calling it long-range when its effective at any range

@Kaahn Stewart the ac/5 had a 3 hex minimum, you are thinking of the heavier acs that were effective at short ranges. The dragon is actually a long range mech, not an infighter. It uses it's speed to keep distance and pummel at range, and the medium lasers really are there just for light mechs that get close.

Mmmmmmm, blokey. I've always liked Mechwarriors chunky ascetic.

I'm surprised they didn't use the better picture instead of the one released later in the day....

Sheesh, "slow drip" is right!

I know they are not alone in this, but the Marvel MMO is doing this and other MMOs, to greater/lesser degrees have, too.

I mean, okay, cool, it's a Dragon and we can all revel in the other info on models that will be released in the coming months.

I'd rather have bigger chunks of info at once than slow, weekly, drips. ;P

Yay for picking a classic...but the Dragon is kinda underwhelming as a Mech, generally. I guess I never really "got" the point of AC5s...they always seemed woefully underpowered to me for their weight and size. I liked the revamped PPC Dragon much better.

@ScottishViking Most people who play BT forget about heat. ACs 5s generate virtually no heat, and at the time of the tech readout that introduced the dragon, double heat sinks really weren't in use. PPCs were high damage but most mechs at that time would overheat dramatically using any more than one, and waste a lot of tonnage trying to be heat stable even with one and support weapons.

Ac 5s were a staple of many mechs of the 3025 era like the shadow hawk, wolverine, and warhammer.
