You know World of Tanks is a decent, fun game, but the trailers never show you being killed by invisible artillary, which is the most common way to die on any none city map.

If they aren't showing it, thats likely because most potential players would think it would be pretty sucky to forever be killed by enemies you can't see and not want to play.

What I don't understand is why if they recognise this, they put artillary in a tank game to begin with.

Seriously, just try out the artillery. It is not easy as you would think. Those who have the Tier 7 SPGs are the best of the SPG drivers or just really, really persistant. I ran around on SPGs for a while, mostly Wespe and M7 Priest. While I curse them for killing them, I don't curse them for being overpowered since I knew I just made it a little easier in the first place for them to kill me at all or they were really good and lucky.

Arty in a nutshell IMHO

If other team does not take cover, the arty has easy shots and victim rages about OP arty.

If the other team takes cover and the arty waits for a good shot, his team berates him for being afk and doing nothing to help.

If the other team takes cover and the arty tries for some risky shots, his insults him for bad aim and being a noob.

I played arty up to SPG and found I could avoid the inevitable above situations by simply playing light tanks, which no one complains about.
