Is Mythos truly becoming the game that would never die? It might appear so, as this twice-nixed title is being rezzed for another go-around with players. Will this prove to be the success where others have failed?
While Frogster's European version of the game was recently canceled, Hanbitsoft and T3Fun are bringing it back as Mythos Global and are already gearing up for a four-day closed beta test next month. The test will commence on December 1st through the 5th, with keys going out through various media outlets in the near future. Hanbitsoft has plans for more extensive beta tests along with related in-game events.
The Mythos Global website is now open with a place to sign up for the closed beta, unsullied forums for potential players to discuss the game, and an awe-inspiring copyright notice. Truly, you'll want to break out your Print Screen key just for the occasion. The game also has a more informative Facebook page with plenty of screenshots and videos for the taking.

I suspect this is simply them renaming the planned American service to Global in light of the European one closing.

..... I was really ready to get behind Mythos when it was first announced and got into the Flagship beta just before they changed it to a persistent world. I was really enjoying it !
Then that crashed and burned.....
I was really ready to get behind the relaunch of Mythos after the IP had been purchased and for whatever reason I really couldn't get into it. then apparently that crashed and burned? I guess I should uninstall it? Again.
Now a third iteration, its not that its a bad game I tend to enjoy it when I play it but at this point just wake me up when its Torchlight 2

What a truly sad way for a game to die. This is torturous.
I do sincrely hope this one lasts...but if not: devs/producers, stop this madness and make a new game for crying in the sink!

This explains why I got a Mythos beta invite email the other day, but not why it was in French.

If they plan to relaunch this game yet again then they need to address why it failed. Repeating the same song and dance a third time and not adapting because the company thinks we the players don't know what we're talking about, then they'll be in for a rude awakening.

You know... I get the picture of some poor soul lost at sea, having to jump out of a burning, sinking ship. He's struggling to tread water as the waves hurl him and whatever had broken free of the ship about. He goes under, claws his way back out to cling to something, hoping he can last. Another waves breaks over him and he goes down again before managing to surface, each time a little worse for wear.

I thought it was okay when I played it in its second incarnation, it was just a little... blah.

Yep, Mythos in its current form (this isn't a new version), is alright, not great but not bad... just alright.
And to be honest, with so many other games out there, you need to be great if you want people to play for any serious length of time.

Actually, from the "other side" of things, or rather "undying games" can be said of long-running games, too.
And it's easy to point at UO, but there are even older games still running that are even older and I don't know how they do it!

Yeah. Makes me wonder if they've got an Ace up their sleeve somehow, or whether they're just going to wipe its face, give it a hug and push it back out the door.

No. Not touching it. Not this time. Mythos Europe was an awful piece of poorly localized filth. Most of the stuff in the cash shop was so poorly described there was never a question of me giving them my card details - I couldn't be sure what I was buying.
And from the looks of the website they're not exactly learning from that little mistake:
"Will you be the hero who will see the light of day?" Please. Maybe it sounds epic in Korean, but in English, it's about as exciting as popping out to the shops in the morning to grab a newspaper and some milk and about half as exciting.
Maybe I'm being finicky, but I firmly believe presentation is key, and proper localization is an important part of that. I've far too many quality titles to be playing to waste time on sub-standard products, even among the F2P game crowd.

Both of Flagship's games now have been resurrected due to influence and popularity. That studio had great talent but poor management.

@Oranuro flaghship went too big on their first game. thats their big mistake. mythos was a good game but it had to go down with the company. mythos management was great I thought. thats one of the reasons why runic games is going slowly, by making torchlight 1 and 2, before taking the plunge into the MMO business. it helps now that they have perfect world backing them up too.

I played a bit of Flagships version and it was great. Then I played the newer open beta and it was horrendous and completely different. I doubt they will put much more effort into it. I'd steer clear.

I really hope they managed to continue Flagship's version rather than take the horribly butchered Frogster version.

It's not so much "coming back" as never cancelled. Only the EU version was cancelled, this one has been announced and coming for just as long as Frogster's was, it's just they are taking their sweet time getting it up and going.
It feels like it's going down and up again but really it's just the other version that was supposed to be coming out right along the entire time anyway. If the EU one stayed up, this one would be going up and running beside it.
