Two things.

First, WoW is a seven year old game. With the imminent release (and not-so-imminent release) of TOR and GW2, it is bound to take a hit. Not much of a surprise there. Although, I personally think TOR has been wildly over-hyped.

Second, that is one cute panda!

I've been testing TOR since June. It's the best MMO I've ever played.

Blizzard should do the right thing and make a progression server and even a strictly vanilla server.

After playing SWTOR I believe this is accurate. WoW won't die and will still be king, but it will suffer greater losses than ever before. There are a lot of factors playing into this, not just a great launch in SWTOR.

Looks good on Blizzard, they were way too arrogant with Cataclysm release and basically abandoning the majority of their player base for the few top end guilds.

I have no idea what the impact of TOR will be but Skyrim is sucking me in the most beautiful vritual world ever created and I don't want to get out of it like 7 millons others (have a look at Steam stats and selling charts world wide). Skyrim is going an impact on what players expect in a virtual world.

Ditto, man. Skyrim is the best virtual world I've seen in a long time, if not the best I've seen. I'm totally sucked in and have no desire to leave anytime soon.

Only WOW can kill itself. Unfortunately for Kotick, Blizzard is killing itself. Cataclysm was a bad move, and the kung fu pandas aren't going to help.

Plus, the game is just old.

These analyst reports often don't seem to be worth the paper they're written on. The best course is to just wait and see... we're only a month away now.

@jealouspirate Neutral is kind of the definition of "wait and see" so you are basically agreeing with them :)

I gained a new appreciation for WoW after beta testing TOR. I think we can officially say that Blizzard is the only company around at the moment that knows how to make a decent mmo. They have nothing to worry about from TOR.

@Mtor TOR is a great single player game. It's just not a good MMO.

@Lucidus

I fear you might be spot on. The solo content seems to me like a watered down version of what KotOR3 could have been. The MMO aspect feels to me like BC-era WoW.

I still have to see things for myself (which I most likely will only do when a free trial is released, as I won't be able to participate in the last beta weekend, and the MMO aspects drive me away enough I'm not really thrilled with spending $60 on the game), but I fear I would have liked a single player KotOR 3 more than I will like TOR.

There are definitely things I don't like about it, BUT you have to realize this game is releasing in this condition. Blizz had had 7 years to perfect their game, and Bioware has just started. They will likely add more planets and also adjust things as needed after launch.

After a few months to a year this game could only get better. Don't for one second underestimate Bioware on this one. They have put too much time and money into this to screw it up.
