Loving this column!

I think the biggest Tribes news is that the patches have addressed a lot of issues from the forums. Forums for games are such a nest of hatred and criticism that I don't know how any company can cut through all of the dung to get to any real constructive suggestions.

But they have. We've seen changes directly from forum threads.

They're listening. The game (in my opinion fun to start with) is getting better and better with each patch.

I'm still upset with the class prices. They're 15,000 Credits, and if you're not a IP, you only make about 50 to 80 credits per game (that's about 20 - 25 minutes a game for you folks at home). They also have the idea to produce more and more load outs, and for the free player, it'll take forever. $50 will guy all the current load outs, which is great... until you realize that at launch, there's going to be even more, about 18, if I remember correctly. So you'd need roughly $70 to unlock everything, or enjoy the grind.

... This is so not a $70 game either. It's CAll of Tribes. The lowest number of weapons in Tribes was 3, on the Light. This came with Grenades, a Repair Kit, Mines, and Beacons. The new Tribes counts mines (claymores) as Grenades, and only gives 2 weapons per loadout. If you don't get shot for long enough, you'll regen health, and Ski-ing is now super easy (not a bad thing). However, they've made one of the biggest changes to this game I've seen: Hitscan weapons. That's right CoDtards, you have your Assault Rifle!

It's a fun game, but as a T1 vet... it has the spirit of Tribes, but not the heart. I wish they'd just sell weapons, and have 3 to 5 weapon sized customizable load-outs.

T1 Vet here as well and I agree about the loadouts being an unfotunate route for free-to-play.

I would have rather had a box price and then cash shop for fluff (I've heard that they sell custom jetpack-trails in Global Agenda -- I'd be all over stupid stuff like that) but I bet that setup doesn't convince investors.

I am optimistic about future loadouts, though. I am nearing having enough to buy a loadout on credits and I am a pretty casual player (have wife and kid).

So I'm convinced that with some regular playing most folks will be buying future loadouts with their credits rather than money.
