No anti-fanboi cry-babying please. It got old about 4+ months ago. You should punch such urges in the nuts swiftly and without mercy. N.D.A. is gone so if you DO like the game, then gush about your EXPERIENCES with the game. If you DON'T like it then gush about your woes. Shit-can the rest.

@EuchridEucrow whatever helps you sleep at night fanboi. I m just stating things I read, if stating a fact means and anti swtor then i m just fine. Again, you just proved my point a fanboi eye are blind to any truths they don't wanna accept.

You obviously didn't punch your urge in the nuts hard enough. Try again...with brass knuckles this time.

How I would describe the current state of TOR is the 80/20 rule. The 80% you need for an MMO to be considered worth playing is all there. The 20% polish that separates the game from all the other me-too's, isn't. Us beta testers have given hundreds of pages of feedback on the missing polish, on the clunkiness of combat, and the horrid UI, yet this game is still going to launch with these three issues completely unaddressed.

Now that said I have pre-ordered and do not plan on canceling the pre-order, as a bunch of my ex-WoW buddies and I really want this game to be successful so we'll put the first month or so in and see if Bioware takes the requisite steps to really make this game awesome.

I'd say that this seem like a fair assessment in my view. I think it is probably the best frame of mind to be in when you are going into this game. Cautious optimism. At any rate, I am pretty certain I will get my money's worth and then some from it.

If you had posted this before the most recent 20gb update, I'd have agreed with you. Virtually all of the bugs I've seen in the past two builds were fixed, plus a lot of updated graphics, play animations and plain old bug fixes.

I don't see where people find polish in the other MMO's out there and say SWTOR is lacking. From Rift to AoC to WoW to SWG, this is by far the most polished game I've ever played in Beta.

No it will not be for everyone, but no game out there is for everyone. Will the game die at max level? Maybe, depending on a full server of players and how things work out. I will say that leveling up, I've never had more fun in any other MMO. Out of the 4 classes (over multiple builds) that I've maxed out, even when you play through the same world a second time, it has a totally different feel.

The Jedi Knight is trying to save the galaxy from the Sith vs the smuggler who is out for profit, hunting down a lost treasure. Same planets, totally different feels. The Bounty Hunter trying to win the Great Hunt vs the Sith Inquisitor rising up the ranks of the Sith hierarchy and trying to help take over the galaxy.

If you don't like having to listen to/read the story, this game is likely not for you. If you actually enjoy a good story in your game, you'll probably enjoy this.

FREEEEDOM!

Alright, I was in nearly every stage of the closed beta. Every single time I tried to give this game a shot. I wanted to like it, I really did. Here's the issue: it's a watered-down themepark with voice acting. That's it. If people want to defend it with "well, every other MMO has it", then you're exactly right -- this game does nothing new, and didn't improve upon anything they borrowed.

If you enjoyed WoW Wrath and later, you're going to love this game. It's basically WoW with voice acting. It's a bad MMO that will, sadly, make a lot of money and further drive the genre down into a pit of money-making mediocre.

I would just like to add that while this sounds SPOOKILY similar to the comment I wrote a few hours ago, this one wasn't written by me.

I have yet to enter the beta (the upcoming one), so i really can't say anything about the game, BUT reading some of those BW fanboys' comments, made me realize that i don't want to be a part of such "throw me a sh**, i can take it" community.
"Other MMOs are like that". Really??

Were you expecting this mmo to diverge fron other MMOs? If you're looking for MMOs that break the mold, theres FF14 and DCUO out there...

I will say this much, the beta community seemed friendly, but I expect it will go south at launch. Why? Because its on the internet... And the internet corrupts everything it touches :)

@cotheer For the people that complain that SWTOR doesn't diverge much from other mmos. Why would they? Bioware looked at what worked and didn't, put it in their game and added voice acting and storylines.

For the longest time Bioware has been saying it's an mmo with a "4th dimension" of story. So that's what we are getting. If you want better graphics go play Age of Conan. If you want better pvp Dark Age of Camelot is still up and running. If you want better customization, City of Heroes been F2P for a while.

This game is aimed squarely at Bioware fans who loved KOTOR back in 2003.

Like i said, i haven't tried the game yet, so i can't judge.
My comments was more about the swtor community than the game itself.

You do have the ability to edit posts. It is called "proof-reading" before you hit reply. At least that is what I do.

keep it coming, everyone thats played the beta...

My big question i want answered is their any meaningful rewards based on the way you answer and work your way through quests, or it doesn't matter at all in the end?

Is the carrot(loot or whatever) that dangles in your face dictated by the way we play our stories, or is it irrelevant?

There are PLENTY of carrots if that's what you're looking for.

@jimr9999us

Right, but does story matter?

If i push the story one way based on my (A,B,C) choices are the rewards differing in the end?

@Kalex716 Aside from Dark/Light point totals dictating what armor you can get. No. It's the same kind of choice impact as in Dragon Age 2. (i.e. none)
