Bring on the bad insights!

@Oranuro

The Beta testers are over whelmingly positive. The SWG vets are unhappy since the game is not a "sandbox". There are tons of reviews on the official boards.

Maybe a bad insight, but my big negative was going through the awesome, interesting storyline of my homeworld, gaining my first companion, feeling immersed and involved.... only to see several other folks running around with the same companion (with both first and last name, all in my face). Many will be able to overlook this, and you CAN edit their looks(armor, gear), but it took me out of the experience.

I KNOW I'm not the only one doing this "unique" heroic mission, but they work so hard to make you feel like you are (with instanced quest-givers and quest rooms), only to yank the rug out from under you with multiple-universe copies of your companion character all over the place.

@(Unverified) Yep, I think I only saw one person in game cry about it being a "WoW clone", "too scripted", etc.

Everyone else I played with said they're leaving WoW, Eve, LOTRO, SWG, etc, for TOR. The only people on here I've seen complain are people who weren't in the beta either saying it's crap they didn't get in, or making up bullshit about the game.

I'm really looking forward to launch, Bioware have really outdone themselves with this one, no matter what the "insiders" (FUDers) have been posting.

Im in, and I am one of those people.

For 50 million, Trion made a competent WoW clone with some new ideas (dynamic events, interesting class system) and polish.

For 150 million, Bioware made a competent 'wow-clone' (although I don't like the use of the term, so I use it only loosely) with some new ideas (choice based story, companions, 'new' crafting) and polish.

They could have made 3 Rift's for 1 SW:TOR. Am I wrong in having wanted, having expected, a little more?

"The SWG vets are unhappy since the game is not a "sandbox"."

You are &*$%&#*$ right we are. Not because TOR itself is a highly scripted themepark game - some people like that style and for them, I am sure TOR will be fun. Rather, because LucasArts killed the best sandbox game out there in favor of TOR. And for no good reason.

I and many, MANY of my fellow SWG players would happily have played both games. Now, I will never play another LA game, TOR included, and why would I? I will stay play other Bioware games (Mass Effect 3, for one) but Lucas Arts can kiss my sand-covered @$$.

Really? Honestly? Sorry but from the amount of "insightful" posts listing exactly what and why they don't like certain aspects of the game or certain aspects that shouldn't have been left out, I get the feeling that those players were players indeed who were in the beta.

Please tone down the fanboi, an try to post logical posts that actually list what you like and what you don't and why. Instead of the drek you just posted.

Some of us would truly love to read solid posts on what you thought of various aspects of the game. Instead of "Gee wiz this game rockz!" "You is stupid if you don't love it!"

@BigAndShiny
The scale of TOR is easily 3x bigger than RIFT. Plus all those voice actors cost money, and Mr. Lucas has got to be paid 10 republic credits for every time they use the lightsaber swoosh sound.

Sidebar: That was actually one of my(and others) complaint about RIFT. It just wasn't enough of anything. Leveling was quick. PvP only had BGs. Rifting in zones was pointless at 50. You do the puzzles once and your done. Everything was consumable in a few weeks, whereas TOR will have you seeing practically an entire new game every time you roll a new character. (Or at least a new faction)

@Beltyra

You must have played on a non pvp server. I got attacked quite often while leveling on the server I played on, when I played Rift.

@BigAndShiny Meh. Rift really isnt that great, and from what I've seen, TOR is. I'd take 1 TOR over 3 rifts any day. Not to mention that its massively bigger, with voice acting and licensing etc. Seen some pretty awesome youtube videos so far, and am 'buzzin' for next weekend

@(Unverified) As an internet citizen I support your right to play SWG and be upset that it's closing down. But as a Day-One SWG vet and Bothan Master Tailor, you can go suck a rancor and find something else to waste your life on. That nerf-herded overhaul is long overdue to be shoved out an airlock. :P

I hate when fans of a game make up the majority of posters on the official game forum:P
