No, I am not a fan of those types of game either. Not sure why, they just don't click with me for some reason.

@Clemalum07 I need to give it another try or two, but I don't enjoy MOBAs much, either. As I age my reaction time just isn't what it used to be and it's asking too much of them to compete with 17 year olds.

@Clemalum07 : I tried LoL and absolutely LOVED it.

Then about three days later I was bored, and have never played it since. Nor any other game in that genre. Yeah, it's either for you or it isn't, and it ain't for me.

Good on them for making such a success of it, though.

Riot is, by far, the best game company I have encountered in a *really* long time. I don't always agree with the changes they make to their game, but as a company, they are absolutely unrivaled in excellence, communication, and overall pleasantness.

I am genuinely happy for their success, and hope it only keeps getting better for them. Hopefully, other game companies will take note and follow suit (especially companies with names like "Gamers First"... lol, oh, the irony...)

I decided to try League out after watching the Dota2 tourney. After two or three months, I have to say, I'm really torn.

I love the game itself. I like the art direction, the champion designs, the general strategy, etc. I adore Dominion, since I rarely have a solid 45 min block to set aside for a SR game.

The people, though, have got to be the saddest, angriest, most obnoxious subset of gamers that I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with. Some of the folks I've met in-game are actually really very nice, but the community as a whole - especially the forums - are mind-alteringly awful and make me wish I had never heard of this game.

@EvilCartographer yep LoL has the worst player base I have ever encountered in a game. HoN was better but now that it is free to play its bad as well. I have tried each of these games but they do nothing for me. Ill stick with Skyrim BF3 SC2 and soon to be SWTOR for now.

Totally agreeing. Its totally annoying when in a practice mode some people begin bitching because i don't follow an optimal build or playstyle, because i want to try something different (like AP Tristana or AD Taric). Its practice game for a reason!

Its even more sad when people bitch about "kill stealing", when in a 2v2 encounter.

I know, ingame reporting might seem ineffective, but it is actually looked into by employees of Riot Games, so it is not a waste to report really annoying players.

I've opted not to try HoN based solely on my experience with league. If those people say HoN has a bad community.... yeesh, I shudder at what that could possibly mean.

Honestly, the two or three months I have spent with those folks has pretty much pushed me back to single-player gaming. I've been trash talked by enough 13 year old kids and 40 year old man-children who think they are still 13 to last a lifetime.

I love getting accused of ks'ing. Especially by people who ended up getting themselves killed in the process of not killing whoever they were fighting.

I can almost understand the try-hard attitude in ranked play. After all, there are some lasting implications there in terms of Elo and the ladders. But the sheer volume of hate in non-ranked and/or practice mode is ridiculous. Never mind the fact that if you even mention Dominion on Riot's General Discussion forums you get about a dozen responses telling you to uninstall and go kill yourself.

What is wrong with these people?

That is because the community, after the pre-season, was left with elitists and casuals. The elitists don't want casuals in their game and casuals don't want to play with elitists. Unfortunately playing bots is lame and casual gamers want in one some of the action.

It all comes down to a small group of people who are 80% of the voice in the game. They want the game their way, and only their way. This type of person is typically anti social, awkward to the core, and they get their joys out of making a video game the one environment they can "rule". Its truly sad.

Thats exactly how i feel about the game but I'll add something for myself. While I'm not very good at dota type games I would have stayed and still ran the game if people weren't so shitty. Even in bot matches people are bitching or tossing insults. the community is worse than WoW's and that's saying something.

While I agree the community sucks as a whole and wish I could turn off comments in game versus just ignoring people; I find that Dominion is a lot more forgiving. The faster pace and shorter games seem to take off the edge off most the games I have played. Sure you get the occasional ass, but it is nowhere near the classic game modes.

@Clemalum07 I actually had worse experiences with HoN back when it cost money than I've had with LoL, also, judging by your comment about it being the worst player base, I'm guessing you never played the original DotA, cause... yeeeaaaah... In LoL the asshats are a small minority, they're just highly vocal, in DotA, in my experience, it was at least 50%, and they were even more vocal per person...

I find this news to be really surprising. If you ever mention "World of Warcraft" to any teenager/young adult, probably 80% of them will recognize the name. Other the other hand, whenever I mention League of Legends to a friends, hardly any of them know it even exists.
