This week on The MMO Report, Casey wonders whether we're occupying Azeroth yet -- after all, Blizzard seems to be one of the few MMO companies capable of losing a million players while increasing profits. "You guys gonna have to sell your Lear jets in order to cover your yacht maintenance costs?" wonders Casey. No. No, they are not.
The Beard also discusses EverQuest II's latest free-to-play transition ("people are still paying for that game?!"), The Secret World's Templar week, Minecon in Las Vegas this weekend, and Bigpoint's Game of Thrones MMO -- an IP we'll probably be sick of "before the game even comes out."
Casey winds down with a list of winners for the ongoing MMO Report drinking game contest and an amendment to the rules: "Taking a drink every time I say something sarcastic is not a drinking game. That's just called drinking. Because it never ends."

Thanks so much for referencing the idiots on our streets.. Blizzard making a proift means there will be games from them in the future. I'd prefer the games be good games.. I don't begrudge any company money they earned through hard work and innovation. Unlike the "occupy" crowd I believe Blizzard money does not belong to the world.

Why isn't any one seemingly capable of distinguishing between World of Warcraft (which lost a million+ subs) and Activision-Blizzard, which increased profits?
WoW's profits didn't increase, the parent company which runs WoW had increased profits.
Kind of sad that even the MMO report can't distinguish the two different things.

@Mystal Yeah, WoW has lost a significant chunk of their playerbase.
And the China-based just reported that they made somewhere around 100+ million pure profit. Source: http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/world-of-warcraft-profits-on-the-rise-in-china/
So... yeah. WoW's profits increased.

It should also be noted that Net Ease is not a Blizzard or Activision-Blizzard company so while they saw their profits rise that doesn't mean Blizzard saw the same exact increase.
Netease and blizzard and activision all have multiple games. So WoW's profits could have decreased while those companies all saw increases in profit.

Just a hint Massively, don't try to use Occoupy WS as a marketing tool, as this is not really working good for you. Seems cheap from your side.

Seriously. You guys really need to stop referencing current events and pop culture that's relate-able and understandable.
You should just start referencing Quantum Leap, All in the Family, and Cheers instead.

It looks like Massively was just paraphrasing the Occupy stuff, so no big deal. But G4Tv is constantly pissing me off with their political comments. If I wanted political commentary I would go to the appropriate website, Casey Shriner and Adam Sessler should be the political correspondents for G4, that way we would know when NOT to watch them.
