Not bad. You can get Light pack and Lightning pack for $10 each.

Pretty good deal for a FTP game.

Is SoE finally learning how to make lemons into lemonade?

no, I mean like dropping down to 30k subs trying to get people to pay for the game, then realize no one would so they add content which is dirt cheap ($10) that people can pay for and still get the entire game.

you know, lemons (a bad thing) to lemonade (a good thing)

@real65rcncom subbing is still better. DLC's don't change anything

I like lemons. Slice of lemon in a gin and tonic makes all the difference. ;p

The reason they dropped to 30k subs in the first place
is because they chose to ignore glitches & game breaking bugs...

Yay, more powersets. They really need to step up adding more weapons/powers/transport modes into the game, there really isn't much variety to what's in the game right now. While powersets are somewhat diverse, I've seen the overwhelming majority of people go for flying and hand blasters, and it's kinda boring when the group you're in is filled with people using the exact same weapon and movement type. They need freaking variety!

Yep my main complaint was always variety. Give em another year and might sub for a month.

Not in PvP. People no one goes for handblasters. It's all dual weild, two hand hammers and one hand weapons.

Honestly, I agree with you that the game needs more variety, but you shouldn't blame mass-unoriginality on that, the majority will choose to be completely uncreative no matter what you put in the game.
For example, flight will always be the most popular travel power because it's the most practical/safe/braindead for travel and the most safe/annoying to the other player for pve and pvp, respectively.

On topic, I kind of like how they're sticking to a sort of mini-expansion-pack model over microtransaction content, but I can see how it would be annoying if you only want, say, the power and not the new area, or vice versa.

I don't think it's unoriginality, it's just a lack of choices. I look back at the time I spent in Champions Online, and there were TONS of different modes of transportation and weapons. People like flying and modes of transportation analogous to it, so CO gave a variety of ways to fly (flame flight, teleportation and other cool stuff). DCUO doesn't have that and flying has so many advantages over acrobatics/super speed (i.e. you don't run into mobs nearly as much and you get around much faster since you can bypass a lot of obstructions).

CO also gave a number of other "heroic" powers to use for combat. I wanted to create more of a "magic" user in DCUO and hand blaster was really the only option that felt like it fit. In CO I felt like I had more freedom to customize the way I wanted my hero to fight and still feel heroic.

Agreed. I even bought a pair of DC / Flash edition Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

Thats makes 32 pairs. The Riddler ones are coming soon, Gotta get those!

Besides my Jimi Hendrix and Ramones edition, The Flash are my faves.

I'm looking forward to this, as it'll let me "reboot" several of my City of Heroes characters. I'm really enjoying DCUO, as its a nice break from COH, and does a lot of what Champions tried, but better (or at least more to my tastes).

But the megaserver move pretty much killed it for me, I took a break, then they merged servers, so the names of my characters are likely gone now.

Cosmic Treadmill? Professor Zoom? You have to love DC comics! The goofy names help to make you feel like a kid again when you read them :)

This sounds like an interesting update. I have to re-install this game now that it's gone F2P.
