CCP's feel-good post count has been building to a fever pitch in recent weeks, and today the company has announced the ultimate win-back promotion in the form of EVE Online's 15th major expansion. The content drop is called Crucible, and it's currently scheduled to debut on November 29th.
"Crucible evolves the graphics, interface, and game mechanics with over three dozen updated and improved features based on feedback and challenges put forth by its players. This is EVE re-forged," CCP says on the expansion's teaser page. The web portal also provides a handy collated list of the aforementioned developer updates, and in spite of what was unquestionably the rockiest summer in the sci-fi sandbox title's eight-year existence, the future is looking pretty bright.

Been playing this on the test server, very nice changes. This is how CCP should move forward from now on, 75% eve, 25% walking in stations. Stations will be great when it is completely realised and the game is tied to Dust516, but space has to be fun to retain the player bases interest.
Despite the bitter vets, it seems folks on the Playstation 3 are keen to get their hands on Dust516 and that can only be a good thing - I just hope CCP get the FPS game feel fluid and up to scratch with modern shooters, if they can do that, they will have a real hit, as it offers something entirely new.

How much are the UI and game mechanics changing in this next patch? Enough to make less boring and more fun so you actually DO something while playing as opposed to clicking a button and reading a book while the game auto does whatever you told it to do?

EVE is on the down since last expansion brought so many negative talking points. Can't see CCP work the positive talk back into the game in a long long time.

@Deadalon
CCP improved the game a lot in the last few months. Even the bittervets aren't so bitter right now.
CCP really did the a good job in thi expansion.
I'm glad to see that "shooting the Jita and the Amarr monument" for two days worked.

So let me get this straight... we are getting all, the T3s BCs, the new Nebulae, the new DEDs and the other stuff on Nov 29?

@Dirame Don't forget the ship station spinning counter. Best feature ever.
CCP have stated they will also release point releases for stuff they couldn't quite squeeze in to this release, such as the changes to Assault Frigates, so you won't have to wait for little things like that until the next expansion either.
