Aye, having played the game myself I found it to be a decent enough distraction for a moment, but the gameplay itself just didn't feel right. There was a clear lack of explanation for several things, and the "Battle Support" thing itself was horribly unexplained, not to mention had to be redone each and every time you switched gundams.

And that last part really annoyed me. Later quests seem to require a "battle support" enabled suit to complete them, but seeing as you might have to switch which suits you are using out depending on the mission/pvp, you get punished since now you have to quit out, go do the two boring single-player missions, give the suit the ability, then go back in. It should of just been a "do once, always unlocked" deal.

At later difficulties (normal and up), the rock paper scissors thing does play bit more of a role. Damage done to a unit depends on that, so you don't want a Rock unit attacking paper, you want them after the Scissor guys ganging up on your Paper ally. It makes for some twitchy, even fun combat, but combat itself feels weak when attacks don't always seem to hit when they should, and there is an over-reliance on auto-aim.

As a Gundam fan who loved the series, collected the model kits, and plays and owns the games, I certainly enjoyed it... but I'm not certain if I'd want to play the game again. There are plenty of Gundam games for the consoles that let you collect and power up units and pilots, and while you can't customize the units (except for a few games), you can customize your pilot, which ultimately feels more rewarding since YOU should feel like the pilot, not some outside force.

@DevilSei

Took the words right out of my mouth. The game already seems to be a massive way of getting either a fark ton of grinding (a lot of the units you have to mix have to be "Custom 1", which is almost completely leveled up), trhat or getting you to empty out your wallet just to get them. Kind of why I stay away from anything made in Korea: Grindgrindgrind, or Paypaypay, not a good mix of the two.

Besides, I could just buy Dynasty Warriors Gundam for PS3 if I really need a big gundam fix. I also have the Gundam Battle Assault titles, they're crazy fun. Whilst I admit this game was simplistic, fun, terribly translated, and a little confusing on quests... there's just so much better, and I'm pretty sure OGPlanet will pull the plug in about a year, or do everything they can to milk astros out of you. Like with Lost Saga and Rumble Fighter.

How is the woman in the lower right of the title's picture even standing up?

I played in the Closed Beta, which ended on the night of the 9th. The controls were a little sloppy at times, and the Rock Paper Scissors system was more annoying than anything else.

You are correct about how fun it was to collect. The amount of MS to pick from was amazing, and I rapidly found myself "gambling" at the same gashapon machines for long periods of time trying to get a specific MS. There were some odd choices which made me laugh as well, such as the Nether Gundam from G Gundam.

Over all it was enjoyable, but I'll only play if it's free to play, and hopefully my suits of choice will not require real money to get.

I realize you sort of explain what the title of the game means, but that doesn't make the title any less atrocious. If they did that bad a job localising the TITLE, imagine how bad the rest of the game must be.

@PhelimReagh

To be fair, SD Gundam is part of the title, and is an actual series (I remember watching the animated show for it on TV). The mobile suits in the game are designed to look in a similar style as the series, as well as fitting into the whole "capsule" idea.

The name is long, clumsy to say, but it DOESN'T reflect on the game itself, and thinking it does is rather... bad of you, for lack of better or more polite terms.

The game is cute, simple (yet complicated enough for die-hard collectors or such), and interesting enough.

Only problem for me is it's kind of a blatant grindfest, and really doesn't seem like there's that much to it.

Might be fun as a casual game, but that's it.

So it's NOT based on SD Gundam? Because the SD in SD gundam menat "superior defenders" and they sure as heck weren't a "capmon" game...
