(POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT)

I always thought the Lost weren't just used by the Rikti, they *were* the Rikti, before their total transformation.

I liked the Lost. I HATED fighting the Lost. Especially at low levels, Psionic damage is the worst.

'these cross-dimensional humans'

Humans: Outdated: Inferior. Rikti: Post-human: Superior.

To be fair, the recent 'Who Will Die?' arc (part I, to be precise) did feature the Lost prominently and shed some light on their ways, as well as featuring two named Lost - both heavily mutated into powerful psionics, and one of them acting as the CONTACT. As it turns out, two of their rules, handed down by the Rikti, are: Never employ magic, for it is totally ebil; and never contact the enemies of the Rikti peacefully. Each of them broke one of these rules, one doing so in order to stop the other. Hypocrisy much? Sure, but it worked for us.

[quote]Unfortunately, there's no real way to combine some obvious powers like Beam Rifle with a psychic set...[.quote]

Beam/Mental blaster.

The Lost are the ultimate indictment of The City of the Future's inequalities. Despite tremendous wealth and technology, there's still a stunningly large homeless population which the Rikti exploit to increase their post-war ranks.

The Rikti at least give them some hope. The Heroes of Paragon City give them nothing.

In the quest story arc dealing with Seer Marino and Ghost Widow, I had the occasion to fight the Lost while seeking to obtain some surveillance tapes. These were just displaced people, looking for a roof over their heads in a cruel world and caught between two powerful and rival factions. However, there were definitely some Rikti weapons present...what's up with that? Innocents caught in troubling circumstances? Desperate indigents being used by powerful forces? Victims of circumstance? Whatever the case, I cleared the area. In this ravaged land, it's a matter of them or me. I choose me.

In the real world scenario? I might have a bit more conscience; however, in the real world, I can't summon the powers of the nether world to my bidding, so there you go.
