With Guild Wars 2 appearing this weekend at the G-Star convention, there's been a lot of speculation about two potential pieces of news -- a date for the beta or the eighth profession reveal. Unfortunately for the speculators, the latest updates from Eric Flannum have put those rumors to rest. Flannum confirms that while there will be news coming out on the 11th, it will not include either of those updates, which are still on track for a later date.
That being said, there's still some news to be found, including the preview of some high-level armor sets that are exclusive for the Korean demo. Flannum stated that there will be other elements unique to this demo, although he declined to elaborate beyond the armor. Guild Wars 2 fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for what comes out of the convention... and wait just a wee bit longer to find out when the beta will begin, or what the last profession will be.

And everyone goes nuts because "Anet lied to us!".
This is why they shouldn't ever put a solid date to anything more than a week away -_-

At this point I think Anet should just relax and then start hitting the info-dumps hard right around the time SWTOR subs drop off like a rock.

You really have a hate-on for SWTOR. Are you Ren?

Why? They can't please anyone. Fans get upset when there's an "information drought" of more than a month or so, and then there are the people who think that releasing anything short of a beta or profession is "overhyping." If they're doing it right or wrong apparently depends on each individual person's impatience threshold and whether that person finds it easier to wait for their birthdays if they get hints on what their presents are or not. How old are we here, seriously?

It's fair to say SWTOR has wasted potential, but I don't think it's fair to assume that it will be a bad game, or that it will not be successful. A lot of gamers will be happy with a well-made themepark that improves on WoW's formula, and that's all I'm expecting it to be.
Just out of curiosity: if you were making SWTOR, how would you do things differently?

1) steal designs from more recent or upcoming games
a) Dynamic content like RIFT or GW2
b) since everyone follows the same quest path (aside form a small percentage of class quests) remove tagging and killstealing by taking GW2's system where everyone gets credit.
2) Make space combat, space combat. Something like Halo Reach and X-Wing would have been far, far better. It's a role playing game, why can't people pilot their own ship? It's an MMO, why can I fly with my buddies?
3) more alien PC choices. A Twi-lek and rainbow humans just doesn't cut it.

"When it's ready" doesn't cut it anymore...A.net..!!!
I can understand wanting to give us the best game ever but there's a limit to everything, if you make us wait again and again and again eventually, even the most hardcore fans will get sick of the waiting, not to mention the more casual players......!
Personally I'll go play sw:tor till your majesty decides to finally grace us with a freaking release date.

I don't mind if the release date is in 2015. The world has plenty of things to offer that you can do in the meantime. Just stop watching the pot actively , you can check from time to time to see if it boils.

This. Maybe I'm just old, but the level of entitlement is just astounding. ArenaNet isn't responsible for making sure individual levels of impatience are soothed (then again, I never got the "it's been talked about too much, now I hate it!" thing either).
