Now if only the game would stop crashing to desktop every time the "create a character" screen comes up, maybe I could play it. =\

@Eamil
I had this issue in the Beta. For me, I had to change my Default region setting in Windows to English (US) from the Regional and Language Settings in the Control Panel.

@Syesta

Frick. That would do it. Had it set to Japanese to play an imported game.

Yeah, it was annoying having to bounce between region settings since the OS has to be restarted every time it's changed. I'm surprised that hasn't been addressed at all...

At least it was a different language...apparently English (AU) gives it issues too :P

Actually, please don't jump on over and download. Too many people in the queues:)

4800 in line and waiting!

@Kedz The queue has been moving pretty fast, actually, so I have no problems with that. The problem seemed to be lag and other issues once in the game, but I'm only in the starting area which is very crowded.

So that's what....almost a dozen dozen players now?

@(Unverified) There are often about 5000 in que trying to get in, so a lot more than that. I wonder if they're regretting the whole "we're getting rid of servers to make a mega server" thing now.

Makes me think of the Family Guy episode where he says "What kind of numbers are we talking 5 times nothing is stil nothing" or something similar to that effect.

I hate when games use terms that sound awesome but actually says nothing. How many of these new people are paying? If the answer is zero they are causing existing players to be fed up with queues while causing more bandwidth and resource usage which means they are actually costing the company money instead of bringing in new money.

Let us see 3-6 months down the road what happens with DCUO and then we will start to see if the F2P move helped or not. It is far too early for them to be jumping for joy over numbers.

Doubt it, in a month or two the population will start shrinking down again.

Of course, it JUST launched f2p! Let's see where it is in a month, and in 2 months after TOR launches....

Is that the Chinese knockoff version of "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe"?

@Gibbeynator Wow, if you don't get this reference, you are missing out. Both horribly wrong and horribly funny, and horribly old school. You sir have taken the title for best post ever.

SWOTL was the first pirated game I played, downloaded from a dial up BBS many many years ago.

does this even matter, if that huge player base jump is not of the "paying" kind? I'm curious to see how this does... but the crazy amount of issues is very true, and I wonder how the "mega-server" holds up under that many players...

@gamegamerson

The game is reasonably entertaining, but I'm definitely not ready to pay for a game that's only stable during off-peak hours. I agree it'll be interesting to see if this traffic boost holds up in a month or so.

I'm definitely part of it and while I'm only a level 7 now, if the game continues to be this fun I may just make it my main game when my Aion sub runs out if 3.0 isn't out.
