if your joining eve for the first time, also consider eve university. Very good corp that teaaches new pilots alot of things they need to know in order to survive in the game. They also teach how pvp and fleets work, and even if you dont want to pvp, you should learn how its done anyway so you can defend yourself

I'm as thrilled as Brendan about the changes (who's summary is spot on -well done on that score B).
CCP Tallest admitted that the gamer feedback from the forums related to the hybrid change announcement made sense to him and that there would be further tweaks.
To my mind the ship inertia boost is THE VITAL element and makes sense in game mech and role-play realms. I'm happy so long as that boost stays implemented.

The changes are now live on the test server. Most of the feedback so far, is still gallente pilots wanting more damage and faster speed, but think this might unbalance them if it goes to far. But still, so many great tweaks and things coming this winter, it has made up for the awful Incarna release. CCP feels like the company it was 5 years ago now, which is great.

After spending some time on the test server, I've got to say I really like what I'm seeing.

The new ships have fantastic designs, a lot of the 'paint jobs' on existing ships have been tweaked slightly (love the new Ishtar!).

The new racial captains quarters are nice (Gallente is amazing).

The new nebula are icing on the cake, and make for incredible screen shots.
