The four-minute clip takes us inside the Promised Land patch's player housing mechanics, not to mention six new instanced areas and a variety of open world locales. You can also glimpse the patch's assorted air and ground mounts. We reported on some early looks at the 3.0 content last month, but the new trailer is even more extensive. Head past the cut to view it in full, and then mosey over to MMO Culture for a few new screenshots.

Aion fans rejoice! The near-mythical 3.0 update is coming to Korea inside of a week (which means it's a few months removed from the American servers, of course). If the new Korean trailer is any indication, though, it should be well worth the wait.

This will definitely pull in tons of subs for the game. I can't wait!

@J45neoboy This update isn't going to pull in tons of subs! Are you kidding? And it has nothing to do with the quality of the update, it can be awesome, but TOR launches in a month and a half with GW2 right around the corner. By the time the update is localized for NA, it won't bring in crap for new players because they will be all over the new mmo's.

Comparing Guild Wars 2 to affecting subscription games is like saying Skyrim will harm TORs release. Guild Wars 2 will be a good game, but it does not require a subscription and therefore I highly doubt it will have any affect on those who want to play both TOR and GW2 or Aion and GW2 or anything else and GW2.

@J45neoboy Dude, regardless of how you look at it, or what excuses you make for this HORRID game that lost over 92% of it's population for a reason, mostly being an Asian NCsoft mmo. It's still not going to pull in any subs. It's not going to change. It lost everything, and every chance it had to be considered anything in the MMO market for the U.S. These patches won't change a single thing.
There is absolutely nothing interesting about this game anymore. They had one of the best concepts/ideas in the world with the winged flying. pretty graphics, and interesting fighting mechanics. They flushed it down the toilet long ago in the first few months of it's launch. Not sure why very few people still hold on to this game, it's complete crap. It's full of terrible Asian gambling mechanics, fighting isn't fluid, the whole point of being able to fly is ruined with their strict rules! You can't even pvp while flying without POTS; oh cool, can't wait to spam my pot button every battle. Item drop rates are boring and crap. The only community left in Aion are supreme anime nerds that refuse to let go of a terrible game. No thanks to that
Like I said, this isn't an opinion, it's fact. When over 80%+ of an mmo community leaves because the game is just terrible, and because of the above mechanics mentioned, then that's exactly what it is. The game is just bad. None of their changes will ever make this mmo come to life again. Thanks

Meanwhile in back in reality, Aion remained a strong and exciting game, becomes more fun and better with every patch and remained as one of the most popular and strongest MMORPGs in the West with sheer thousands of player even after 2 years and also one of the most popular and situational the most popular MMO in the East.
Strong enough to attract displeased ignorant hater of NCSoft and Aion to each and every of the frequent news and highlight they make and produce and copy&pasting their superficial hate and slander to counter any positive news and well deserved positive feedback.
You look like a glaring fool in between all the growing positive feedback from player and recurring ex-player :)

Housing doesn't look that impressive. It looks like amerikan suburbia, or rural england, rather than a high fantasy world.

Explain to me... exactly what is "a high fantasy world" supposed to look like?

@Zyrusticae Western European Medieval / Tolkien ripoffs are the only legitimate fantasy settings, I guess.

Looks like a ton of amazing stuff. I have to say I'm more impressed with this than with Blizzard's new expansion. The scale to which housing is being implemented [it looks like there are seasons?] and the way you can change everything is great and helps make the game feel like a world.
Is the game doing really well in asia for them to afford all this stuff?

Yes.
Aion is currently the most popular game in Korea. Yes, even more popular than Starcraft (more people WATCH Starcraft than PLAY Starcraft, believe it or not).
See: http://www.incgamers.com/News/20833/aion-tops-internet-cafe-rankings-in-korea
So, basically, Western players get the benefit of all that development revenue that *isn't* coming from them, getting all these updates for free.
Aion is also funding development of Blade & Soul, interestingly enough. So they've been able to simultaneously fund two major projects off of just one game. Not too shabby, eh?

I agree. This is what an expansion should be like. Aion always seemed to require more time investment than I could afford, but this trailer has my interest peaked...again:)

Its pretty great that a small western community essentially gets a massive development team for free then :)

There's good and bad with that. On the good side, you have the deep pockets of NCSoft and Aion's success in Korea driving the game's development. On the bad side, that development is geared towards a Korean audience. There have been however some tweaks for the NA audience, most notably the changes to rifting.

Well, the Xfire statistic is an accumulated number of hours played by Xfire users. As such, it's not a terribly useful statistic by any objective measure.
For example, EVE Online is 6 years older than Aion and also has one of the highest concurrent player counts in the western hemisphere, yet it's still beat out by Aion on Xfire. This indicates that EVE players are not fans of Xfire more than anything else. Likewise with Champions Online and Everquest II both having accumulated hours-played in the triple digits, which really makes no sense. I know for a fact that both games have player bases, at the very least, in the thousands, and that they do not all play for 20 minutes at a time and then leave forever. :p

For lack of an edit button:
I just noticed that it says hours played *yesterday*, so it makes a bit more sense in that context.
Still, again, it only counts Xfire users, so take from that what you will.
