Star Trek Online's latest dev blog is live, and executive producer Stephen D'Angelo spends a bit of time talking about tribbles. Rest easy, they're not taking over the Cryptic offices, and D'Angelo spends this week's Path to F2P installment outlining the benefits of participating on the game's Tribble test server.
The dev team has increased the character transfer limit, and players may now copy up to three of their avatars from the main server. D'Angelo outlines the various rewards available for players willing to roll up their sleeves and get down and dirty with the bug squashing. The goodies range from tribble pets (naturally) to XP boosts and Dilithium chunks. Exclusive titles, starship slots, and duty officers are also available, so head over to the test shard and do your part!

They've upped the limit because the KDF is *still* so appallingly content-light that they simply don't have enough KDF players to test the higher levels on the Klingon side. Further to this, there really isn't any content for (high level) KDF players to test.
80,000 Dilithium as a 'reward'? That will get you something like 4 weapons from the dlithium vendor. After taking away the 250 emblem vet reward, players are again being majorly short-changed as Cryptic tries to monetize the game as much as possible, and incentivize players to 'unlock' items via the C-Store.
Powerhlem's post here http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3845514#post3845514 shows you exactly how much you're getting screwed over by Cryptic, particularly if you're an early adopter who has built up a lot of emblems over time.
Cryptic/PW doesn't care about you or your game experience, and just wants your money.

I share your concern that Cryptic may be looking to turn STO into a giant money-sink under the orders of their new owner (although the jury /is/ still out on that one, as of this writing).
As a point of fairness, though, Powerhelm has been posting angry Star Trek Online posts on forums since the earliest days, when Perpetual had the license, and Jon Reid was running a fan-forum in lieu of anything official from the license-owners.
The fact that I recognize his poster handle immediately, after all this time, should tell you something.
I'm not taking issue with his calculations, and he's certainly entitled to his anger, but Powerhelm is not necessarily an entirely impartial commentator. Caveat lector.

Yeah, I certainly recognize Powerhelm and his viewpoint.
Although, I do agree about the point of needing more Klingon content and players.
