This is all great info if you're a min/maxer, but the true strength of freeform lies in the fact you can make concept builds. If you min/max your way through all the tiers, you could end up with a mishmash of powers that may be very effective, but leaves your hero looking like something Stan Lee threw up after a night of heavy drinking.

@Lenn Most of my characters are the concept-type. I choose powers based on what's proper for the character, rather than what's the most powerful. The best example in my list is a "Retro Sci-Fi" type. He has all the blaster gun-based powers: Particle Rifle, Pulse Beam Blaster, Power Gauntlets, and Sonic Boom Generator for an AoE.

@JonBuck Yeah, that's the beauty of freeform. I tend to pick powers from one pool anyway, but pick the ones from different pools that might fit with the theme I have going. It's fun finding the right combination and NOT gimp yourself in the process.

@Lenn I have another Munitions/Might combo that works wonders. If anyone gets too close using Roomsweeper to knock them away does the trick and often just finishes them off. Fun stuff!

*facepalm* more freeform posts about stuff we already know.

Again all this info has just been lifted from the forum.

@(Unverified) "While this may be familiar to Gold players, it will serve as a primer for those who are not experts at maneuvering around the power selection process."

Honestly, rushing T3s in some other frameworks can be pretty horrifying, and still very effective. Infernal Supernatural can pick up Regeneration and Aspect of the Infernal on it's way to getting Defile, and generally build a very coherent power set on it's way up.
