Last year graphic designers and EVE Online fans from across the world competed in CCP Games' huge Design-a-Starship contest. The ultimate contest winner was the incredibly impressive Minmatar Tornado, which was meant to be implemented in the game shortly after winning. The ship's implementation was delayed until earlier this month, when CCP announced that the Tornado would be one of four new battlecruisers hitting EVE with the winter expansion. The new tier three battlecruisers are designed to use battleship-sized weapons and are specialised for mid range to long range combat.
In a new devblog today, CCP Guard revealed the Amarr tier three battlecruiser: the Oracle. Originally named the Mentor by its creator Alexey M, the Oracle appears to quite literally be a stripped down forward section of the popular Armageddon. The ship joins the Minmatar Tornado and Gallente Talos as yet another entry from last year's design competition to be implemented in the game. The Caldari battlecruiser is still to be revealed, but we got a first glimpse of the ship from yesterday's In Development video devblog and can confirm that it is also a player-submitted design.

Love it. Very Amarr. (Though I like the name "Mentor" better.)

@ScottishViking But if it were named Mentor, GM Guard wouldn't be able to wrap a towel around his head and squint into a crystal ball for our amusement!

It's true. Using the photo opportunity to determine creative outcomes was a wise decision.

Looks cool. Can't wait for the new Caldari ship. I love the Caldari style of ships. Very military looking.

What's the thinking about which Caldari entry will make it? A non-strategic version of the Peregrine, maybe? Almost all the other Caldari entries are Battleships, and -- in the best of Caldari styles -- utterly boring looking.

In the video that Brendan posted from yesterday, you can see a snippet of it when they are talking about various art stuff. I think it is towards the first 1/3 of the video.
From what I could tell it looks a lot like the Caldari's version of the megathron. I don't know which winning concept it was based off of, but they showed the Oracle, the Tornado, and whatever the Gallente one they released first in the video as well.
It was boxy and could only have been the new caldari one. Go take a look!

Yeah, went and looked at the video from Tuesdays dev blog video. The caldari ship is probably the one shown at approximately 0:28-0:31.
I think it looks great. Kind of a Rokh meets Megathron in battlecruiser form

I'd say so, yes.
I think they took all of the artist submissions and tweaked them a bit, as those renditions look slightly different than what Eve dev's had cooked up, but who knows.

Yea, they are all similar to but not the same as the original artists. For instance, the Oracle lacks the darker center section of Mentor. This makes the Oracle look overall more bland than the Mentor.
... and we don't even want to go into what they did to that poor original Seraphim when they turned it into the Talos.
The Tornado is the closest, so far, to the original.

As many changes as there might be, I still think they're pretty close to the originals, and a real testament to the artists' original vision.

Every time I see an Amarr ship I have to remind myself again that I don't have the time or money to spend on playing EVE.
Dat aft.

Sometimes I miss Eve, and then I remember how unfriendly the meta is. Worse of all, no one believes you when your 6 year old character isn“t developed at all.

Are these ships Tech 3? I was kind've hoping future T3 ships would be like current T3 ships - configurable.
