The newly announced Update 7.0 for World of Tanks contains a laundry list of new content for the wildly popular free-to-play MMO.
First up, we have two new maps -- Fjords and Swamp -- where the clan warfare can take on an extra challenge with the highly anticipated camouflage system, applied to all maps. This version of stealth allows certain skins to be applied to the tanks that will "provide enhanced invisibility and add more to the strategic element of tank combat." Keep in mind that this isn't some kind of magic invisibility spell; it's an authentic camouflage pattern applied to the tanks, according to which map you're in.
In addition, Update 7.0 also introduces fog of war for Clan Wars, hiding the other team's roster, and clan emblems to let other players know how you roll.
For more on this update, check out the World of Tanks site, as well as our recent interview with Wargaming.net from GDC Online 2011.

Um, Shawn. Isn't "stealth tank" an oxymoron?

Blatant Command & Conquer ripoff, obviously. Kane will be after your ass with a lawsuit in short order.

The only word I can possibly associate with "Stealth Tank" is "CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!"

I honestly haven't noticed so far and have been having a good deal of fun. Are there glaring things that I'm not noticing (yet) or will I be 'enjoying' have shoved in my face further on in the game? I have been quite curious about any superiority given to handing over $.

Paying allows for accelerated leveling and there's always the FOTM for gold shop tank. Currently, the slang in game is walling users of the Type 59 tank "Wallet Warriors". It's a nice tank, though.
I have to agree that paying $ doesn't give you a clear advantage.

The game is hardly pay-to-win. The only thing in that game that can even give you a slight advantage over someone else is gold ammunition and honestly, I have never used it and done perfectly fine.
People need to stop throwing the term pay-to-win around at any F2P game that shows up, it just isn't true in most cases.

@Saker Sure you can level a bit faster if you pay for the premium monthly, but the end game tanks are exactly the same, and taking one of the 'cash shop' tanks into Clan Wars will get you rolled over faster than a truck hitting a lemming.
If people want to pay for gold rounds - so be it - they do offer an increase in round penetration for most tanks, but that would get expensive, and frankly - good tactics and positioning will beat gold rounds any day.

Well unless you're in Clan that do Clan Wars, then it is not 'a bit faster'.
It is enormous huge grind vs. very fast 'progress'. Amount of XP and gold needed for high tier tanks is huge like really huge.
So if you're casual player than is not paying and not playing Clan Wars (well casuals don't ) then you really have enourmous grind in front of you.

Interestingly, I have used it and I've done perfectly awful.
Which I guess backs up the argument that this isn't pay to win. Hmm, perhaps I should ask for a refund :)

Dear wargaming.net
Your game is really fun to play and all but could you please get rid of some of the ridiculous grind that makes me think I'm back in 2001 playing my Cabalist in DAoC?
Sincerily, oh why bother -.-
