@jenny1994

Well, yes and no.

Pandarans have been around since Warcraft 3, so it's in Azeroth/Blizzard lore. Also, Blizzard has said it's one of the requested player races, so there is that.

But we do know the race of Pandas were more Japanese-flavored when they were initially made. This changed awhile back, IMO, because not only Blizzard wanting to get in good with Chinese players, but Pandas are from China and are considered a national animal. Also, there is sorta "bad feelings" between Japan and China, but even disregarding "old history" Chinese can be very proud people, so to link Pandas to another country (and dressing as another country) would sorta be like dressing up the American Bald Eagle in Russian clothes (although I think American gamers may be more forgiving in that). Basically, taking an accepted country's image/institution and covering it with another country's imagery. At the least, a group of players may find it mildly weird to downright offensive.

But I do admit, there probably was a bit of Blizzard thinking how China would view this in-game race in the back of Blizzard's mind, since they want more in-roads and "good feeling" in China.

@Space Cobra

You mean Pandarens were a April Fools joke by Blizzard and then were added in WC3 with some lore since they put them out thee to begin with.

God I'm gonna sound like such a fan boy here. But Jesus Christ, these clowns are supposed to be in the know, their finger on the pulse of MMO games. It's called THIS WEEK IN MMO. Yet they don't bother to read past headlines on MMO news. Specifically FFXIV. They love to trash it. What's worse is they are spreading misinformation. That I just can't stand.

FFXIV isn't the best MMO thats for sure. I don't question people who aren't willing to pay the sub fee until ver 2.0 lands.

But these people have no idea the strides the game has made since launch. Gary said "...I sure have, I uninstalled it" Mike didnt play much past launch (don't blame him) and the other guy never played it. How much of an informed opinion can they form from such limited experience? How do they disregard all the interviews from the last two weeks explaining SE decision to start billing, and the future of the game?

If Gary maybe updated his free to play FFXIV and at least see what has changed and then reported back "no it's still just like launch" Fine he has a valid formed opinion. But he's going of shear hear say and previous outdated experience.

Just so readers here know.
FFXIV will not wipe character data going from Ver 1.0 to 2.0
FFXIV will not be pay to play until after players have a chance to play patch 1.20 which lands around late November early December. (pay in January?)
FFXIV while still has a terrible UI (which is to be redone before Ver 2.0) is a very playable game.
FFXIV (in my opinion) with patch 1.19 (current) is RIGHT NOW what we should have had @ launch. It's not 50% of a game. It's a complete game going through a rebuild.

I know that very fanboy of me, but If any of those three actually have played the game recently and then have come to that conclusion then fine report what you know, not what you think you know.

It's certainly not fanboy of you to expect professional opinion to be formed from playing the game, don't stress it.
