A game developer announcing they have fulfilled their 'customer loyalty' promise 10+ days late sounds like a situation SOE would be in.

Yeah, that's right - bitch out SOE, so original. Considering LucasArts pulled the carpet out from underneath SOE (and screwed we loyal SWG fans in the process), it seems to me that SOE is doing at lot more than it should have to for its SWG playerbase. So you don't have SWG tied to your account anymore. Boohoohoo. SOE has said SINCE MAY that SWG accounts active on October 15 would be free to play SWG until its untimely demise AND that it would be impossible to add SWG after that point. Sorry you did not keep SWG active, but it would hardly be a customer loyalty reward, now would it, if you could just up and renew your sub to get the rewards.

If it makes you feel better, you may not get to play other SOE games for free, but after December 15, I cannot even pay to play a game I have played loyally since 2003. Thanks LucasArts!

@(Unverified) Problem is, I couldn't do any of that stuff long before SOE went and made that announcement. I couldn't log in, I could not retrieve my password. Sony has still failed to contact me regarding the status via email. I called the US Customer Service number, and I talked to some college kid whose only answers were, "Dude! I don't know what's wrong with your account bro. Sorry, but apparently we can't activate it."

I even asked the retard to sign me up for a new one and he told me that it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't be able to partake in the festivities because my subscription had to be in good standings. LOLOLOL!!!!!!! I'm sorry your game is closing down and all, but you have to remember that our game died when NGE came out. Don't come here and be the valiant Sony Fan-boy defender. It ill becomes you and Sony both.

Too bad they never apologized for the NGE.

Didn't giving a full refund of the expansion that came out just before the NGE count as an apology? Fans were mad that SOE teased the expansion(Trials of Obi-Wan) and all its cool stuff without a word about the NGE until a week into the expansion. SOE gave full refunds of the expansion to any who wanted it. If that's not an apology, I don't know what is. Blizzard sure wouldn't give a refund for their expansion if players didn't like the talent changes they made with the expansion. SOE did more than any other company would do in that situation.

@RogueJedi86
The refunds were more about avoiding legal action than anything else.

Legal action over what? False advertising? The expansion delivered all the content it promised.

I wonder if they will ever sell off their MMO business? They haven't been having much luck lately, and it seems that many customers are not very happy with their service.

LOL - you're kidding, right? EQ3 is in active development, new expansions for both EQ and EQ2 are due out shortly, Free Realms and Clone Wars are both huming along. Planetside 2 is in development (and looks pretty damn sweet). Even SWG was doing just fine until LucasArts killed it, apparently afraid they might lose two or three TOR subs or something. Not too familiar with DCUO, so cannot comment it on it. Heck, even Vanguard recently got a patch. (You probably can stick a fork in PotBS, however).

Don't let the fact that it has become cliche to pile on SOE fool you. They are doing just fine.

I know some might laugh at this but SOE (at least in terms EQ2) also has some of the quickest customer support that I've ever seen. Every single ticket I've ever made has been not only answered but resolved in no less than at day...if that.

I've had a character stuck somewhere and had him unstuck and ported to a town in less than an hour. I've had things in my account fixed and various other stuff answered for me every time.

I'm very happy with SOE and don't seem them as the LOLfail that allot of folks like to say they are.

I've stated this in NUMEROUS threads. and i'm making this the last one that i state this in; SOE has a BAD habit of killing their own games, especially when said games are doing well. Here are a couple of examples. SWG, Matrix Online, Planetside, The Agency. Also their list of screwing the player base is MASSIVE compared to other companies. I believe the higher ups/CEO of SOE are suffering from Chrematophobia. This is just another example of "par for course" on Sony's part

@champagon

Matrix Online was HARDLY successful and SOE did not kill SWG, LucasArts did. Even the NGE had LucasArts's (omg we want WOW numbers!!!!!) sticky fingers all over it. Kill its games? SOE has a habit of acquiring games that are on the verge of cancellation, then making changes it believes (rightly or wrongly) will salvage the game. You may not like the changes they made, but at least you still have the option to play Vanguard, Planetside, etc.

Don't forget and if you don't already know: SWGemu @ swgemu.com

Now that this game is closing it is more important than ever that the Star Wars Galaxies emulator continue on its way to a full release.

You had to subscribe before a date last month, I think. After that, the ability to sub was deactivated and only people who paid before that date get the final SWG months and the trials.

Call me a SOE fan-boy all you want. I have had my fair share of criticisms of SOE but the knee jerk reaction of half the posters here (ooooo someone mentioned Sony - PILE ON TIME!!!!) is just plain boring. Your customer service story is odd, indeed. Maybe your attitude toward the customer service "retard" did not endear you to him.

"I even asked the retard to sign me up for a new one and he told me that it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't be able to partake in the festivities because my subscription had to be in good standings."

So, prior to Oct. 15 you attempted to create a new SOE account and couldn't? Why would you even need customer service for that?
