It's sad, but also funny: This is the hype and excitement I think we all expected when the game was originally launched. There was next to no marketing done then though...

I was waiting with anticipation of what will be done with FFXIV, considering it's impressive rate of work, until I read what will be added in future to FFXIV:
- cross-server LFG tool
- many 'convenience' streamlining, etc things

Erm no thanks, but no.
Really don't want to play another WoW...

Good that I really paid small money for FFXIV box :/

I'd wait and see what it turns out like. I'm not a fan of cross-server LFG either, but I can live with it as long as the "cross server" part isn't mandatory. As for the streamlining and quality of life stuff, I'd venture to say XIV can really use it, especially since a lot of the complexity in the initial release of the game felt a lot like an attempt to mask the fact that there wasn't much content.

@smartstep This. It's one reason why I'm not going to fund the development to make XIV into more of a WoW like themepark.

The SAD thing about FF14 is that it IS an AMAZING GAME, especially now that they made a lot of great changes. BUt there are two MAJOR problems...

1- Except for the players that knew about the game when it was releasing and those that follow Final Fantasy Ip stuff like fanboys, NOONE KNOWS THIS GAME EXISTS/STILL EXISTS/EVER EXISTED/ETC...

2- The most MAJOR problem .... Since release FF14 received a TON of criticisim, MOSTLY from Final Fantasy FANBOYS who wanted the game to be a certain way and cried about it being different and a challange(reminds me of probelms with SWG's NGE and the release of WAR lol) FF14 was fine and now is even better, but noone outside of the FF community knows about it. Now, the main issue is...

THERE IS NO FREE TRIAL!!!! NONE! NADA! ZIP! ZILCH!

They dont even have one of those HORRIBLY made decisions (like Aion) to offer a 5hr trial which is at least SOME way of seeing what the game is like if you havent bought it.

I'm telling you this... regardless of the amount of people that will come back to FF14 since these new updates.changes, if FF14 wants to succeed (and they COULD!) they need to wake up and off a Free Trial, even if its just a cheapo 5 or 7day version. That way they can actually PROMOTE the game for people to try, rather than try to sell a product reliant upon player gameplay, yet asking people to spend 50 bucks on a game they have NEVER played.

Its like asking someone who has driven a 1990 Ferrari to buy a 2011 Ferrari for 10x the price of what the former cost back in the day! The customer WILL WANT A TESTDRIVE! Regardless if they lease or buy - if you get the comparison.

I hoping FF15 will do whats right

I'm not surprised that FFXIV isn't getting a marketing push at the moment. Technically, the game is still in development. I wouldn't be surprised if Square Enix starts a huge marketing blitz around E3 or TGS, seeing as how the PS3 launch will be a few months away by that point.

That being said, I watched the last broadcast, and though I couldn't understand a word they were saying, they did show off some concept art involving the Job System and the map redesigns. You can really tell that the team has been putting in a crazy amount of work bringing the game up to snuff. I'm hoping they give us more details about the lead-up to 2.0, and show off more of the Jobs being put into the game.

@JohnFordColey

2.0 content is featuring in E3 next year as announced in the roadmap. I think marketing and push will come with the official relaunch along with the PS3 version.
