While it doesn't offer as many options as SWG did, it's at least very close and a much better system than any MMO has put out in the last few years.

I'm not really concerned about not being to afford the luxury mansions, but I think the game could use at least a couple more per faction. Still, the neighborhood maps are huge and feel like a residential area. Really looking forward to this update!

Do people still play it?

It's quite busy on the servers where I play. Lots of fun.

@J45neoboy

I don't think you'll have any worries there, haha.

Housing is awesome in theory, but in reality, just another pain in the ass thing to upkeep.

The "only one room" thing and the limited furniture IS a bit of a downer, now that I actually look at it...

Still, I am excited. This and the other changes included in 3.0 are making it rather difficult to wait the 4-6 months it's gonna take to get here!

I don't play Aion, nor ever had an interest to, however, the articles about Aion never cease to entertain me. MJ is probably the best writer on this site, besides Beau.

Every article has that sense of excitement and passion about the topic at hand. Very good reads.

They are living up to some of the promises that "Vision" trailer has showed us. Don't know how much of a resource hog 3.0 will be but it looks like it can only get better from there.

I wonder just how much housing will facter in pvp.
In the Vision trailer they had capital city sieges with the invading army going right though the player housing district. Complete with a giant war golem stepping on people's houses.

I'm very excited about housing... Yes, limited amount of available houses per fraction can be a pain, but as MJ said - not everybody care about houses and getting bigger house, so I think these players will just don't care and will just stick to "room" they get from quest just to put more warehouse slots and nothing more.

Also I'm little disappointed that in big house you have only one big room inside... at least in others MMO (LOTRO only seen houses there) you can have few rooms inside.

But who knows. In 3.0 they will add house area and maybe next step will be bringing sieges to these areas how it was showed in Vision Trailer? :D Imagine all these "care bears who care only about theirs houses" how they will PvP to bitter end just to protect theirs homes if they will be in danger xP hahaha!

It is a move in the right direction, but the limits on housing (seriously, only a single room and very limited number of items, WTH?) and new mounts that are just transport, fall pretty short of the visions trailer. Capturing a monster in the game and then riding and fighting with it would have be really something. Hopefully they'll continue to improve both housing and mounts. What they've done looks good, but I guess I was expecting a lot more based on the visions trailer; I know, just stuff they hope to do over the life of the game. Still, a bit disappointing to me.

I do like having the game progress to a new area where Asmodians and Elyos are fighting together. With the recent minor PvP additions and the one-on-one dueling in the new area (think I saw that somewhere), new crafting professions, etc., they are adding something for just about everyone.

NIce to see housing coming to this game. The wait for this feature is finally about to come to an end and that's good news.
I find very stimulating being able to create your own house from your own inspiration, decorating both inside and outside. And sharing it with friends once created is a must.
I am disappointed too about the extremely limited number of big houses. But that's just for starters and they will probably adapt these limits through updates if the players give strong negative feedback.
Aion is really getting better and better and like fine wine, getting tastier through maturing.
