The development team at OGPlanet has been hard at work, not just with its current stable of games but also with its newest title: SD Gundam Online. The game, described as a fast-paced multiplayer third-person shooter game, is almost ready for its first round of closed beta testing, and we've got your key!
If you're ready to become one of the game's first bug-hunters, head over to our giveaway page to snag a key, then create an OGPlanet account if you haven't yet. Enter your beta key code on the game's redemption page, and you're all set for beta testing! The first beta testing period will run from November 2nd to 6th. Don't worry about the date slipping your mind, as OGPlanet will send a reminder email to all beta testers.
Grab your key and enjoy the beta!

From what I've seen from the videos, this game is pretty awesome. I never thought it'd see the light of day over here because, well, licensing. Seriously, licensing/copyrights has pretty much destroyed the free market, and made sure we'd never see Super Robot Wars over here. Yet here we are, finally getting SD Gundam. This might actually kick some arse.

Actually there are a few Super Robot Wars games that were released in the US region at least, though its just "original" titles and not the awesome cross-mecha mashups you see released in Japan. I'd KILL to get Kamina and Simon in my game to play...

scratch that, there is ONE game we got that had some cross-over, but only due to the co-development with Monolith-Soft, so we got a few characters from a game never released here (Namco X Capcom), as well as KOS-MOS...

I know, I was referring to the regular series, not the one with Ryuusei and Masaki and all the others. I mean, they're awesome and all, but let's face it. We never got Masoukishin, so their story is lost to us, and the sheer nostalgia factor of Super Robot Wars, with G-Gundam appearing next to folks like Gear Fighter and Gunbuster? Yes please.
My only fear is the fact that it's OGPlanet. I'm afraid they'll do the entire "renting gear/gundams" thing, or they'll take the Cosmic Break route and make it so you have to pay for random chances to get certain robots, rather than making it so free to players can get it all. I know, I know, if you can't pay for exclusivity for the awesome, what's the point? Balance.
Also, who can argue that people playing to unlock the robots is a bad idea? Put a shortcut in for payers, and for those that won't pay, they play and play and play and hey, that keeps the servers full and others playing. I've seen too many games fail because of the "pay or leave" philosophy... and after ALL the waiting I've done for this game, I don't want the same to happen here.
... That and I'd froth at the mouth like an angry dog if I couldn't unlock Dynames. I'm a Neil fanboy to the end...

Ahh... I wasn't really wanting to, but the GUNDAM commanded me to, and it's hard to say "no" when Chibi-Gouf is glaring at you with his single eye...

That does looks like it plays like NCSoft's Exsteel but i'm also hoping that space battles do happen too. I'll give it a try when it comes out.

I've been meaning to try out the Gundam MMO that was in Japan, but I've never fired it up (basically, it was officially closed down over a year ago and it's being hosted by a few individuals).
But this one, although not "serious" in it's aesthetics, looks like a good compromise that is "professionally hosted" by an actual game company...and in the US! Certainly has my interest!

Yay gunda-*sees OGplanet*
After releasing 2 MMO's in the USA but then taking 2 years to get them in the EU with -really- crappy servers that cause disconnections evey few minutes AND the horrific pay to win system in Rumble Fighters?
No thanks.
