Wow what a turnaround. I have not had an active sub in over a year and there recent focus refocus on eve is making me resub.

It just sucks that people had to be laid off in the process.

@(Unverified) That's not correct. The layoffs hit the community team for EVE, and hit them hard. Something like 2/3 of the community team - people who have been the public face of EVE for a very long time lost their jobs, some of who were very good friends of mine.

Please be careful with the misinformation. I'm sure players are thrilled with the new refocusing - I think it's something CCP needed to do. But their blunders have messed with a lot of people's lives, and the least you can do is understand who was affected before you comment on it.

@Buhallin So they get rid of 2/3 of their community team... to increase customer relations. Sounds like a perfect corporate solution to me!

@Buhallin
So you know for a fact who got laid off? How about giving names, like CCP Fallout? As it stands, you could be giving me misinformation exaggerating the amount of people getting the axe, for all I know.

A lot of them are listed in this blogpost: http://keithneilson.co.uk/10/eve-online-ccp-lay-offs

Looks a lot like their community team is being punished and that's probably not going to fix a thing. You can fire all the people in your company but as long as your useless management remains you're just going to ride that downward spiral right to bankruptcy.

This news is going to ruin some perfectly good rants.

\Oh well, I am sure people will just find something else to rant about.

Never underestimate the ability of EVE players to complain. About anything.

They need to annouce the details of a next giant patch.

More ship customization
- ship painting

Team ship control
-faster response then a single pilot Ship job are effect by pilots skill sets.

Super weapons.... (dream away)

I'm just blowing smoke, but players want content, not UI tweaks, not a side game not really related to Eve, content!

No... Actually many people were complaining about the UI and the ugly font... So the new font options should shut them up.

I think I'm getting burned-out on all the CCP 'We're Sorry!' announcements. When the Big Chief came out the other week and made that public apology, I cringed inside. 'Governments don't give in to terrorists!' I screamed. Then I though, if I write that as a comment here, people would inevitably think I'm calling EVE players terrorists. So my second thought was, 'Parents don't give in to screaming children', which as a parent of two screaming children and husband to one screaming wife, I thought was pretty apt. Now, every time there's a problem with EVE, CCP will have to drop their collect trousers and show their bottoms to the Internet.

Bad move CCP, bad move.

@pcgneurotic

Your either blind or ignorant if you don't see what they did as a screw up of epic proportions. Still, the only reason they are turning this around is that the community of eve will actually follow through on unsubbing and taking their money elsewhere if CCP screws up. After they lost at least 20% of their income, even the arrogant CEO of CCP changed his mind when his job was threatened.

By merging the two departments they want to increase communication to the players.

They did not perform well on the communication part in the last couple of months. So I wonder if this merge will help in improving the communications.

Lets see how it goes. Shame again that people needed to be layed off to improve on communication

@Protheus

Actually in the last couple months they have communicated pretty much better than any other MMO company out there. It was the week after the Incarna patch when they stumbled.

@Protheus their communication has been fine, it's the fact that they've funneled all their resources into 3D chatrooms, cash shops and other games while completely neglecting the actual gameplay of eve-online that's been pissing people off.

I see no change in that strategy. I mean, they've had to put ship spinning back in, and that's a feature, requested by players, which makes it possible to ignore the content they've been working on for the past year and havn't yet stopped working on.

It's right there in their faces. I bet more people are interested in WOD than DUST and INCARNA combined, and theyy havn't realized it.

Fire the fucking management already.
