2012 is going to be a freaking interesting year!
Will the mighty fall? Will there be comebacks? Who is going to sweep gamers off their feet?

So, they basically overhaul the talent system with every expansion now?

"each class will have a single talent tree... Talent builds can be changed as easily as glyphs, meaning it's possible to customize your talents mid-instance in order to tune for a specific fight"

So why bother having talent trees at all if you can change them on the fly like that? So not only will you have to research the ideal build and know your raid/dungeon fights, now you're going to be responsible to your raiding partners to know which talents to switch to at each stage of the dungeon.

This seems quite tedious. I can hear the QQing from in your LFD group because you didn't switch to a particular talent during a particular fight and there's a wipe.

Glad I left this game years ago.

@PhelimReagh

I think that comment might have been misinterpreted because they said later that they were taking out the need to train spells but class trainers would stay in for talent spec changes.

Have you not watched how Diablo III talents work. This is very similar with being able to change your talents on the fly to adjust to what you encounter is brilliant!

If what you have picked isn't working so great, change up really quick and try again immediately without going anywhere!

With the current system, it requires going back to town, spending a glob of gold and at least 5-10min respecing your char. And chances are it may require getting different gear from the bank, another 10+ min, then finally go back to whatever encounter you were in, and the group you were in has probably long dropped, or where ever in the world you were has respawned thus you have to fight your way back...etc etc etc

Man, Blizzard is doing everything possible to kill the game at this point. This is the first expansion I've seen that didn't even excite me a little bit.

Pokemon? Seriously?

They're really trying hard to kill this game now.

On the contrary, they're not trying to kill the game, they're trying to retain or regain as many subs possible.

1. Pandaren-- A lot of WoW fans have been asking for Pandas for a long time. The lore is a mess anyway. Why not?
2. Pokemon-- Who doesn't like Pokemon? Also, with a pet battle arena you get a bigger market for the cash shop pet store. Gotta get them dollar bills, yo.
3. Guild Wars features-- GW2 is the MMO the gaming outlets are raving about. Why not try to crib some of those features and throw them into WoW as a way of stemming the tide?

There isn't a single facet of this announcement that doesn't herald the fact that Blizzard is far from backing down in their relentless quest for cash money.

@nilsmmoblog So you deleted your toons? You realize they'll release another one in 1.5 years right that might appeal to you next time?

If you really want to show Blizzard your hatred of their next expansion just don't buy it. That would be a more subvert, yet effective way of telling Blizzard you're not interested in what they're offering.

In 1.5 years I will be able to buy a max level char legally. ... If I wanted that.

It doesn't matter, you can open a ticket in-game and request you characters be reinstated. I deleted my characters and told them a month later that my characters were deleted by my younger cousin who was messing around on my account. I logged out and logged back in and all of my deleted characters where back.

It's odd how watching that trailer feels like watching a trailer for a WoW-ripoff Asian game. Is that just me? The environments feel completely alien. Meanwhile Outland is an alien world that feels quite at home in WoW. Hmm.

I don't know. I should be thrilled, but ...

The Panderan always worked because they were never real. Now that they are, I don't think I'm interested.

Seems the expansion is aimed more at Asian players but it doesn't matter, I'll never go back.

@SaintV You have the right to impose your opinion in this thread, but the fact you literally just summed up the obvious in order to slide in "and I'm not going back" was completely unnecessary, and didn't add anything interesting to this topic.

Perhaps expanding on why this expansion doesn't appeal to you would be a more interesting read?

I think how strong other peoples' reactions are is very interesting, honestly. It's why I read comments sections.
