@The Grand Nagus

Skimmed 16 pages of people pointing out the ridiculous number of reasons this is a terrible idea, and didn't see a single supportive post - can't stop laughing.

I feel really bad for STO players, because the community is almost as nice as LotRO and I love the IP, but I can't help but laugh at this. Everyone who said PWE wouldn't do this to STO is eating crow now.

I just... I don't even... how was this a good idea? LOL.

@Caerus

Thing is you can kind of (on one level) sympathise with the plan as so far as it relates to the F2P'ers who will join

But this is then out of the window because the plan then turns around and slaps the previous subscribers (who will now be gold members) and lifers by now making thier lives in game and crafting etc.. exponentially more hasslesome as well.

with crafting the dilithium costs on lower level stuff are negligible but with the higher tier stuff your talking many thousands, which in turns means many days of grinding dailies and events and stfs etc.. the overwhelming achievement of which is doing what we did before but ten times more hassle and masses more grind.

Its difficult to see the up in that. :(

@The Grand Nagus What am I missing here. It seems like you will be able to make things with dilithium after one round of the Starfleet event. If I remember correctly that will net you over 4000 dilithium in under an hour and if you're really good you can get more. I usually just quit at that poit because I'm not greedy. And it happens multiple times a day. And if we are talking abuot lower lvl players that's enough to get you a couple of items.

Im just glad I Maxed my crafter long ago and already made an AEGIS set and needed Kits for every character I have ahead of time as now it seems it will save me a GAJILLION dilithium and EOns of grind to get it :)

Yay forward planning!
