That's too bad, this IS the same IP as the one Flagship had in beta in 2008 isn't it?

@Oranuro

Yes, but the people who actually MADE Mythos ended up working on Torchlight. This is just some half-ass attempt to cash in on the legend that was Mythos, given how shining the reviews were for it from the beta testers. Leave it to a Korean company to screw it up in the name of the almighty dollar...

Kind of sudden, I played it now and again. Yeah it wasn't the best game, but it was kind of good. Had it's fun moments.

Oh well.

That's what happens when you release a game in 2011 with graphics from 2005.

@(Unverified) To be fair, that only happened because they weren't allowed to release it in 2008

Eh, a shame to hear but definitely not unexpected. I had my fair bit of fun in the game, but my god... grinding as heck with a horrible basis for crafting that was in dire need of some actual recipes at the start of it. I never heard much about them fixing it so I never took the time to revisit it.

At most, it just made me miss Dungeon Runners more...

it was a much different game that what flagship released it as. it was basically turned into an Asian MMO grinder while flaghship had it as an online diablo sort of thing (think torchlight :) ). they pretty much ruined why the game was good.

to sum it up: its trash and im glad that its gone. now we need to wait for the real product, torchlight mmo.

No. Don't wait for Perfect World to destroy a great IP, wait for Runic to put out Torchlight 2 (probably this Nov.).

Now they are prolly begining to realise that you can't release a below average game and expect it to do GOOD. Put your brains in motion if you want people to stick around!

I can't say I have a great deal of sympathy for them. As a European company, Frogster really should have insisted on a much higher level of quality in the localization of the game.

I could understand an Asian company being content to put out an Engrish title with garbage writing, but for a European company, particularly one that could very easily get access to English language writers if they could be bothered to, it really is unforgivable.

@Budukahn

Not to mention Flagship had already pretty much had Mythos ready to go. They could've just left it as-is rather than botching it and trying to make it some hybrid of WoW and Diablo.

Not to mention they ruined the races, and in the end the models looked rather cruddy as a result.

I remember the game being amazing back when Flagship worked on it, and... now it just became so bland after the new company took it and tried to change it.

Mythos was horribly butchered from its past version anyway. Sucks to see it go, but... not surprised at the same time, I guess.

Guess F2P is not industry "ultimate saviour and resolution of all problems" like it was / is promoted.

Bad games flop whatever their business model is.

@smartstep it has nothing to do with it being f2p or not. the real tragedy is that its not the game the original developers wanted it to be like. the crap ass Asian company that bought it, changed it, and hoped to capitalize on the fame.

I was the exact same way. That and the fact I heard it was very, very grindy. I simply didn't want to fool with another butt dragging grindathon, especially when the game looked nothing like Flagship's vision. Thank the Gods they formed Runic and created Torchlight... I think this shows no matter the IP, if you fire the geniuses behind it, then you're going to kill the magic that made it legendary.
