@Irem
I feel like every time an MMO includes housing or other extensive player customization/creation features, an angel gets its wings (Maybe a Daeva gets its wings in this case?).

@Irem Yes because I just so want to have my friends and guildies over for tea time. I never saw a purpose in player housing. You could just own the Sims for that.

@Alex Oglitchkin

Well, that logic goes both ways. You could just own Call of Duty 27 if your imagination is limited to leveling and killing.

MMOs used to be virtual worlds as opposed to combat lobbies and happily some current-gen devs are finally starting to get wise to that fact.

.................................................. true.

But better late than never. They're only releasing 2.7 recently, so its still going to be a ways before 3.0. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

For this interested, a player posted some more info on the Aion forums:

Awesome update. This might be what it takes for me to take a serious look into Aion. Will love to see what options they give us as far as housing customization goes.

Need 5 more endgame instances dungeons, 3 large scale raid instants (9-14 bosses, trash, explorable instance with story elemtens. An most importantly a PVE server. So want to love Aion, but the pvp ruins it for us PVE folks

That nonsense with sockets needs to stop too, quit milking your players.

yeah im thinking the too late thing as well but i have to say, at least Aion is doing what all the other Devs of the other games are NOT doing (until they lose 900 subs at once and then maybe they change something) which is innovate their older game title to make it more enjoyable for those who still play. Blizzard, Turbine, and Trion could learn from these folks on this. Sure Trion has had more innovation then the first two but cmon they stopped after launch every patch was bug fixes and content.

I just love housing ... in the way it was (or is) in UO. My blacksmith was working in his house for hours and hours and sometimes a neighbor was dropping by just to have a chat or asking for some stuff. Those were the days ...
I'm waiting for housing in Fallen Earth but I guess it'll never come. :/

Aion isn't my cup of tea anymore - though I really liked it a lot, but with all this "real world" clothing and stuff ... I just don't know, it's kind of strange.

@Grendel

I was the same way with housing in UO...spent hours in there working. I can see why so many people think housing is just fluff, I haven't seen it useful since then! It was awesome. I only dabbled in Everquest, but there housing was also pretty good.

Wasnt flying mean to nullify the need for mounts? I remember when I was playing it, people kept asking for mounts but they said that you can fly, so no need for one :S

3.0 update supposedly also includes 1 neutral field, 4 open fields, and 5 instances, and level cap rise to 60.

I love how everyone goes either
WOOO HOUSING!!!!!
or
BHOOO I DONT LIKE THE LOOK OF THESE HOUSES!!!!

when you'd expect everyone to go crazy in both positive and negative ways over
- PvE cross-server leveling zones aka dead of rifting in real zones.
- No-PvP endgame zones.
- New neutral NPC faction and shared capital with more No-PvP stuff...
- PvE vs PvE dungeons "cooperating" with the hostile faction...

@Oranuro

I feel the need to point out how outdated and utterly pointless this comment is.

Anyone complaining about ganking hasn't played the game in a long, LONG time.

My guild has section in LOTRO (and Aion, and few more mmos) and I've always envy LOTRO guys theirs house system - now it seems I can have one too? :O Ok... maybe in half of year time?

I was checking Aion forum today and found some fansite has posted more info about houses https://forums.na.aiononline.com/na/showpost.php?p=1139309&postcount=37
So everyone can get basic "flat / room" and rest has amount limit per server? So not everyone can get better house if they won't be fast enough?!? :/
