As Star Wars: The Old Republic's release date looms larger on the calendar, BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk are starting to be seen with increasing frequency on the PR circuit. The latest sighting comes courtesy of The Gaming Liberty, and the dynamic doctor duo offers up some interesting commentary on SWTOR and the logic behind setting up BioWare's new customer service center in Ireland rather than Canada or the U.S.
There's a "fair, reasonable tax and regulatory structure the government here [in Ireland] has provided for us which creates an entrepreneurial environment [...] which is a big bonus," Muzyka explains.
The interview also touches on lore inspirations for both The Old Republic and the classic single-player Knights of the Old Republic RPG, as well as the team's confidence in its new massively multiplayer product. "One of the most common things we're already hearing is that people seem to find it hard to go back to other MMOs once they play The Old Republic," Muzyka said.

And that's perfectly fine with me, and probably a few million others. I like WoW, and with the added storytelling and Star Wars universe, it will do just fine for us folks. Sorry it's not your cup of tea.

I recieved the beta invitation for last weekened and tried it out...
Well, what can I say the game is engaging, but it being beta and not the end product I dont want to detract and or attempt to say one way or another. But for simplicity sake, it's an OK game, but I have lived through AoC, WoW and to me..as much as I hate saying it..Just feels like a WoW clone..Mind you it looks gorgeous..but damn it...
SWG ruined it for me with it's sandbox (pre-nge) so for me I cannot stand the "on-rails" experience...Hell of all things that makes star wars flippin Star Wars , I.E. the epic space battles..are now reduced to "on-rails" shooting experience. As for the guy above, I completely agree there is so much more then the light and dark and I feel like Bioware is going to shoe-horn players into strict rigid roles with little wiggle room to RP and or to at least live out "their " character.
But we have a few months left so come December I am sure the reviews will pour in.

@(Unverified) it is just WoW in space. my comment above, like i said, i did the beta twice. its not fun because the formula is just so old for me now. It will still have a lot of subs, no doubt, but nothing new is added. The voice acting might be new but I mean....reading text is faster and I prefer to read then wait when it comes to videogames; if I wanted to watch a movie...I'd watch one.

THIS would have been the innovation the game needs. Hell, it basically has the blueprints to have happen they just need to flip the switch and allow you to be neutral at one point and then you can move to either the republic or empire. Hell the classes are mirror images anyways so, I really think this would have helped make the game feel much richer than the standard 2-faction game it is.

@Janitor Voice is what mmos need reading stinks tried reading in lotro gave up before lvl 10 for im a slow reader take to long. Played over 20 diffrent mmos probebly and never followed the story exept in DCUO that was voiced. So this game is what i been waiting forever for to come.
And for being wow in space dont think so its mmo in space (and even that is a lie as you on the planets not much in space) saying wow in space you could just as well say EQ in space or AoC in space every mmo is the same that is mmorpg just minor diffrences.

Having played both Beta weekends and starting one of the most viewed topics on this very subject on the second beta weekend, I can say the statement has a lot of credibility. They are probably referencing my thread, actually.
The overall sentiment from first weekend testers was that it was difficult to get back into their previous game of choice for at least a week or two after the close of beta. The story in SWTOR is very engaging and just draws you in. When going to other games, you really find them lacking in that department.
Now, if you are not the type of person to get drawn into a story, then you may not feel that way about it. If you are a person with an active imagination that enjoys being drawn into a story, well, then chances are you will enjoy it much more than any other MMO you have played.
Different people are going to feel different ways about a game based on how they play it. For someone like me and many others who were in the beta, the experienced really raised the bar for MMOs.
