That was awesome! :D I wanna know how the magic works in this game. Having magic in a modern setting is way cooler then having magic in a fantasy setting.

Magic in the write up as by the Game Director.

"Ragnar gave us a detailed explanation of the magic types used in The Secret World. Blood magic may be familiar to those interested in medieval incantations. They mostly involve necromancy and dark arts. Elementalism is a scientific branch of magic that utilizes an understanding of the sciences to control physical properties. What piqued my geek factor was Ragnar's explanation of chaos magic, which he compared to the butterfly effect. He told us that chaos magic is more subtle than the other branches, where one tiny event will set off the dominoes to something massive."

The game is showing good progress and a lot more stability, especially so when comparing it back to AoC at that time in development. No hickups and the engine gimmicks like shadows and particle fx seem to be working fine.

It also verifies that the previous live gameplay sessions did suffer from connection issues, as this video shown is a recorded session as due to technical issues on NY CC a live gameplay couldn't be shown.

Weapons also differ in functionality just then looking different visually and having different damage ranges.

@Vagrant Zero so then by your definition if someone said they liked it in one sentence and didnt follow it up with an essay of elaboration they would be trolling as well then?Peoples opinions are opinions nothing more nothing less you can't tell someone how to express theirs otherwise it becomes yours and not theirs.No need to get feathers ruffled over someone elses opinions as they are merely opinions-a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.

I think the general idea is pretty good. I just wish the they refine the movement and action a bit more. The characters moved a bit awkward to me.

Part of me will always want this game to be more action based, and they fact that it is not, pains me >

@Dol I'm getting quite tired of tab-targeting as well.

Replace the shotgun with an archer with a bow and it's just like every other MMO. Tab to the next target, use ranged skills. The guy with fire? Just a mage.

I'm not saying this perfectly describe The Secret World, but the gameplay doesn't look to bring many new elements to the MMO genre.

Did you notice that the character with the shotgun was hitting enemies in an AoE cone, although things were tab targetted? It sure looked like gunfire only went where the reticule was aiming.

I'm not trying to fanboy, just stating that although monsters hitpoint bar was selected for hp-tracking purposes, it didn't seem like the character would auto-aim at it.

Would you rather he was shooting rainbows? Seriously though, go watch one of the videos showing how the skill wheel works in TSW. Sure, you can play as a "mage-type" but it's far more open and flexible than what you get from most MMOs.

Their sub + cash shop double-dipping greed model (which they boasted that AoC is their role model) is really huge turn off to me. So not going to play it, even though skill system instead of level system is nice idea.
