This Week in MMO: Honestly EVE edition

If you have to qualify your statement by saying "for a free game, they are good", then you are admitting that compared to subscription they are worse. What he is saying is that, games that you pay 15$ a month are better then f2p. They are. Because they have more capital to make it better.

So WAR is better than, say, League if Legends? Or Vindictus? Or Team Fortress 2? Or Ragnarok? Or LotR:O? Or AoC? Considereing those all have a F2P model of some kind....

but regardless, that 6 (and then some) are the tip of the iceberg. I can effortlessly name over 200 F2P games that are, by and large, far worse than WAR in every and each aspect.

I suppose thats what Crazy Mark refers to. That the VAST MAJORITY of F2P games are pure, utter horse shit.

Listen, Im not gonna argue semantics with you, champ. The point (that you're failing to see) is that "Crazy Mark" has no business or right to call ANY game crap after the goddamn tragedy he & his studio released over 3 years ago. Free2Play games or not, WAR was one of the biggest train-wrecks to ever be released. The fact that the CURRENT DEVELOPERS are calling it that too, and the fact that after 3 years, no proper Expansion was developed (to our knowledge) or released, should tell you something.

I'll definately agree with the fact that a VAST MAJORITY of F2Ps are garbage, however, certain titles, mostly the ones covered here (Maplestory, Glitch, Forsaken World, Allods, Dragon Nest, Vindictus, World of Tanks, Atlantica Online, every F2P Conversion out there, etc,) are head & shoulders above WAR in EVERY imagineable respect.

Hell, all things being equal, I'll take Eden Eternal over WAR any day.

Lets also clarify, Im not calling any of the F2P games I listed great, awesome, fantastic, or anything else, they have their faults too, however, in comparison to WAR, its no match.

@Silverel I do remember really pausing over that discussion and choosing my words SO carefully! It's not because of strong feelings toward either game, it's just that I played WoW for a total of like ten minutes and I always feel like I need to be careful when trying to discuss it in any sort of depth.

@tooright While I do agree that most F2P games seem very sub-par to me (personal opinion), I'm playing League of Legends more than any other game right now.

many sub based mmo's are terriblel as well, so it isnt just confined to ftp as everyone is trying to cash in on the mmo cash cow. At least with the free ones your haven't wasted any money on shoddy, bugged and unfinished games.
Admittingly it seems to be more an issue with ftp since they usually dont have as much financial backing and rely on player dollars to expand.

You see that big with Aion, they play so different, they love grind, took a long time to fix aion for the US to the point of being playable.
