For all of you European Star Wars: The Old Republic fans out there who were planning to be sick from work on December 22nd for the game's launch, you'll now be doing it two days earlier. That's right -- if you plan to play the game at retail launch, you'll be doing it on the same day as the Yanks in North America: December 20th.
The announcement was made today during BioWare's New York Comic-Con panel, where our sister site Joystiq grabbed the news. Stay tuned to Massively for more from SWTOR and NYCC as it becomes available.

Good news for Euros.

I wonder what made them decide to push the date back over here as well? From what was being debated in this very community, the delays seemed to be a case of our stores always stocking up later in the week than the US ones.

I smell servers crashing and burning...
I hope they have the Class D fire extinguishers because I bet metal is going to start smoking.

That's good news indeed. Now if only they'd let those of us in the rest of the world actually order the game they'd make a whole lot of SWTOR fans happier.

Ren will not be doing that.
He's had a lot taken out of him due to Rift saying they would never put in micros and cash sales before and then they did this week.
He despises cash sales and loves Rift so.. it's been a bad week for him.
I'll give him credit though.. he stuck to his guns and say's he disagrees with Rift chasing the almighty dollar.
Now if we can just get him to look at TOR with a 'neutral' eye.... :)

This game is going to make Rift's launch look pathetic in comparison.
Finally a Blockbuster MMOG! First 3 months sales, minimum 3 million units sold, calling it now. You guys n gals better hurry up and PreOrder.
Finally something we all have been looking forward to since WoW's inception. Can you wait??

I dislike rift for a number of ignorant developer mechanics but one thing i grudgingly give is the launch they had. I enjoyed the rift launch as it was the single smoothest launch i have been part of, though the artifically created login cues made by the Trion devs had the game go downhill fast.
While rift started out great they quickly descended into the niche game they are today.
Now if TOR can pull off a smooth launch with no login ques and pump out content they will be able to easily strip rift of its one claim to fame, its launch.
And from what i have seen the last two times in TOR, it will. Of course the devs will figure some way to screw things up. Laugh.

Looks a lot like WoW in space. It might sell a ton, and I think it will hold people for several months at least because they want to play through to max level to finish their character's story maybe, but will it have legs past that point? End game looks just like WoW, except of course maybe easier and with smaller groups.
Could suffer from the same problems that RIFT has, that it's just too much like WoW for disaffected WoW players to stick around for very long.

finally a big US launch done both in US and EU at the same time, instead of the always silly "we should have it first" mentallity, not that Id have complained over 2 days

Eu will probably get it first......you know cause of time difference. But even then it won't matter much i guess since most people will be in early access.
Unless sadly early access is limited to only a few 100 thousand people from over the 600 thousand US pre orders ( i don't know about EU)

I note that their own news article says "global launch date".
They then go on to specifically mention NA and EU, but still I wonder...
