The Charr bully them, the Asura look down on them, and the humans see them as general-purpose bad guys who are to be farmed endlessly for their necklaces. The Grawl are the Rodney Dangerfield race of Guild Wars, but things might be looking up a tiny bit in Guild Wars 2.
At the very least, ArenaNet is giving the race some love. The latest ArenaNet blog post, Planet of the Grawl, gives fans an in-depth look at the history, society, and religion of the Grawl. The creatures haven't had much of a chance to evolve, so while fans of the current game will find them pretty familiar, we'll know them better.
Jeff Grubb is the mind behind these new details, and he describes the Grawl as a "deeply religous, shamanistic people," with religious squabbles being the source of a fair amount of their problems. He goes on to explain how the spiritual side of Grawl society works, how they interact with the rest of Tyria, and more -- even noting some of their early design iterations.
Take a look at the ArenaNet blog for the full scoop on the Grawl!

Woo an Anet blog GW2 update!
Between playing my way through Factions, Nightfall, and now EotN and Prophecies, (planning on) buying the Guild Wars novels, and scouring the internet for more GW2 details, I'm obsessed @u@

That blog entry was like having a freshly baked hot dinner roll presented to you before a high class 3 course meal. The roll is fantastic, delicious and yummy, especially when covered in butter, but you know it's only a taste of what is to come ......... My mouth is salivating!

There's a lot to love here, humans and charr arguing over who resembles the grawl more, the section on religion is a standout, and the snippets of grawl wisdom are hilarious and direct.

I'm a little worried that I'm going to suffocate under this mountain of hype and dev diaries before TSW, TOR, and GW2 manage to finally come out.

Out of all that I know Arena Net WILL deliver. My friend says that beta TOR was a lot like Vanilla WoW, so that is one game I'm not all that excited about, though I will probably at least try it out. Finally, in my opinion, TSW is seriously the biggest "meh" title I have come across since I started playing MMO's. Frankly, I look for it not to get released.
As for the Grawl page, I was just complaining earlier to another friend of mine who happens to love GW as much as I do that Anet hasn't released any new content in a while and I'm getting antsy.

I think at this point the only thing I got left to say about GW2 is "Please just don't suck, please don't suck!"

@Seldra When GW first came out I thought, "This is it?!?!" After I hit 20 I went back to Silk Road. About 8 mo passed with me not even touching GW. Once I was finally sick of the grind, bad graphics and even worse translations or lack there of, I decided I would pick up GW again and give it an honest go. I've been playing it off and on ever since.
I love GW and while it may not be perfect or a true MMO, ANET has taken the initiative and given us just that in GW2. It's literally mind boggling how many things they have in store for us after the initial launch of the game. GW2 will change the MMO industry and that is something that has been LONG OVERDUE!!!!
I'm not trying to sound like a fan boy even though I am, but it's gonna be pretty flippin' sweet!!

For ome reason I'd had mistaken these mobs for some grazing animal human hybrids (like the Tauren in WoW, but far skinnier). I think I was more paying attention to the gear, especially the head sets, than what was wearing it. Thus, I embarrassingly had no idea these where simian as opposed to bovine in origin. My bad. :(

And here for a hot second I thought Charr the Grimm Fte was coming back to us! Now that was a concept.
