This game better not suck. The Warhammer IP is an amazing one and Warhammer Online was the biggest letdown.

Was excited till i read that it will basically be a wow. in the terms that if u dont raid you will be left in the dust in terms of gear. The game has a long way to go, i just hope they dont make it a raid or die game. people shouldnt be left in the dust cause they are either casual games or dont take part in a raid.

@Irian They are making a big mistake if they care the "themepark" element to heart. If they basically copy prior MMOs, this will tank.

@Grumms If they somehow mess this franchise up, an exterminatus will be the least of their problems ;)

"Game Design Notes:

* Relic is lending a very small hand in the overall development of dmo. Winking, a Chinese based developer is also on board. They helped with Spacemarine as well.
* Vigil is doing 90% of the work. Most of the shared work load is art, and animation.

I'm kind of torn on this stuff. I really want to know the info, but the game is a good year and a half out... Hope they don't get the hype machine rolling too early.

50-player raids?! Prepare yourselves for the bloodiest clusterfuck in gaming history.

LOL thats one way to look at it. I saw 50 man raids and thought "wow, trying to bring back old school raiding."

@JohnFordColey

why do you assume that applies to PvE content?

WAR in example had warbands of 24 players, yet ALL the PvE content in the game revolves around 6-man.

the 50--man raid could be the 40k equivalent for a warband, that only really has place in ORvR.

From the article...

"Eldar class rundown: Scorpion, Avenger, Warlock, Reaper
* Expect Tau & Dark Eldar later, likely an expansion, though dark eldar npcs will be present on release, as well as Necron, and Tyranids. (Interesting idea, going for the ‘faceless’ races as NPCs, though I suspect you won’t be getting quests from the Swarmlord!)"

Eldar, with Dark Eldar and Tau coming later....

Now I'm interested in this game!

"60 character levels."
"Raid” size is 50… subject to change"

Oh look, another "level till cap then raid or die" game with no hint of dynamic content.
It seems that GW2 and TSW won't start a trend trying to do something different.

Wow, they seem to be going for a media blitz here. 18 months before release still seems a bit too early for it though. I wonder if they will be able to keep it up for so long if they are front loading it. A really long beta period perhaps? Speculation, speculation...

Seems pretty interesting. I like the idea of 50 person raids, that would be insane. I also like the idea of Open world PVP and scenarios, akin to WAR. (I always thought WAR had the best PVP design of any MMO I've ever played, just not implemented very well.)

I also like the mention of adding the other races later, as part of an expansion. That, I assume, would be the third (and possibly fourth?) group.

News, glorious glorious news. Neat to see how the Space Marine progression will work. I hope there will be some good story & quests in there for the ranking up elements within the chapter.

No word on Terminator armor... yet. If implemented I think it would be something we could expect towards the higher levels naturally.

Finally glad to have some bits of information to discuss.

There is a LOT of info there, I'm really bummed they went with Khorne when Nurgle and Slaanesh have so much more potential for diversity.

Guardsmen into Assassin? that seems wrong, a guardsmen should have their own progression path. assassins aren't chosen from imperial guard regiments.

Imperum/Eldar vs Orks/Chaos seems a decent set of 8 classes per side for launch.

Seems the game will be action orientated if you use your left and right mouse buttons for combat. Slightly concerned about the "console" suggestion though....

Eldars and Space Marines side by side? Lol...
That is just stupid.

But some good bits of news. The gameplay being similar to Space Marine, but with cover mechanics is great news. I loved that game.
Black Templars as the chosen chapter is also a good choice. Much better than the one dimensional Ultramarines.

I just hope that we won't see Khornite spell-casters...

@Gaugamela

They are probably thinking:

Book lore is book lore and in mmo games no one cares about it much overall. I'm not a War "fan" as far as knowledge but if the game was fun and engaging, I don't care if the lore is messed up or not really.

I'm sure they are thinking of it in those terms overall. Average people who don't know what a Tau or Imperium is won't really care that they are on the wrong (or right) sides. They just want to shoot stuff and run around in game.

To them, money is money.

The gameplay ideas sound cool, everything else sounds horrible. I'd prefer if they started with only a handful of races, but did them right.

war40k lore.
you know absolutly nothing of it.

examples of Eldar and Imperium (and yes, that includes SM chapters) cooperating exist by the hundreds.
always reluctantly, true, but happened, happens and will happen.

dont pretend to have something worth being called an opinion on this. obviously you dont.

Yeah, they're right. Lore isn't important in RPGs anyway.
