Fallen Earth has barreled over the falls today into the wild rapids of free-to-play, opening up the game for anyone who wants to experience what the post-apocalypse tastes like (slightly leathery). Current subscribers will find that their accounts have been upgraded to Commander-level status, and all previous subscribers and purchasers of the game will have a brand-new Spiked Chopper waiting for them by the end of the week.
As part of the F2P launch, patch 2.0 has hit the servers, and with it came several changes and hotfixes. Loot drop rates from mobs have been increased and crafting has been tweaked as GamersFirst continues its efforts to rebalance the economy. In a new dev blog, GamersFirst discusses what's going on with the economy and why these changes are taking place. The primary reason that the devs are monkeying with this system is to get players interacting more and to introduce an element of challenge for crafters.
Unfortunately, the world events that were scheduled to go live today have been postponed until next week, following the discovery of several bugs and performance problems.

Welp, time to download and check this out. Hopefully it's pretty good.

@Danteeeee There are several download options here: http://www.gamersfirst.com/fallenearth/?q=download
You can either use the G1 live downloader (this uses a P2P connection so it's usually fastest), or you can click Direct Download and grab the client directly from us (but make sure you're using Firefox, Chrome, or an up-to-date version of IE)

I don't see the point in rushing in to play any game on the first few days of F2P. It'll be just as fun and just as free to play in a week or two when things have settled down a bit and it's easier to download the game and avoid bugs/glitches that will probably be found and fixed.

Hmm, is the bike available for all former subscribers, or just those that resubscribed before the F2P conversion?
Used to play way back, but never did finish crafting my first ATV (game felt way too anti-sandboxy back then, with only 3 or 4 viable character builds). If I'd get a decent way to travel, I might check back into it.
Oh, the lack of post-creation character customization kinda irked me too, especially in the way of hairstyles and facial details. Has that changed at all?

The full client direct download doesn't work, can however download the launcher via direct download (just not the full client) - Latest Firefox btw.
