@sortius : thing is, even reading GOOD reviews of SW:TOR, by people who LOVE the game, makes me think that it's not for me. What was the phrase that socialenemy2007 used? Oh yes: "Another typical wow cloned theme park. /yawn"

It's hard to trust a website that doesn't know how to avoid the PHP error 42 with automated cleanup scripts.

In any case, any "review" out there is untrustworthy, positive or negative, since its essentially based on what amounts to the opening credits crawl of a film. It's like calling Star Wars a great or awful film when all you saw was the backstory text scrawling across the screen.

That souce "nailed a good portion of the issues on the head" by writing a "factual" piece based on things he'd heard a "friend who was in beta" say. The forum post contains massive factual errors that even someone with a cursory interest in TOR would be able to spot.

Let's keep a little perspective. It's the thing du jour to either bash TOR or sing its praises. After all, it generates a lot of web traffic.

@socialenemy2007 Hardly. Just very amused "beta reviews" are treated as gospel and links to sites that do their research very poorly are used as "proof" for something that amounts to nothing more than an opinion.

That review has almost no information and seems as though it was pieced together from other reviews. Seriously... anyone who has been reading the SWTOR forums, dev notes, or kept up with the news on Darth Hater known that SWTOR is doing many, many things to deviate from Warcraft. No white damage. Companion characters. 200+ hours of unique story for every class. Huttball. Individual loot bags for each player for each boss kill with a chance to get a piece of gear, instead of one loot chest with gear which then has to be distributed by the raid leader. Voice over. Light Side and Dark Side points. Unique morality based gear. And no hybrid tax (devs want all classes to be equally good). And this is just stuff I've learned from reading once a week in the last couple of months. How in the heck does SWTOR constitute as a WoW clone. So the addition of an action bar, quest log, quests, and a map makes these exactly the same? I don't think so. Not even close.
