"it ended up feeling more themepark than sandbox. We want Fallen Earth to fulfill its destiny as a sandbox, and the resources and horsepower GamersFirst is providing is geared towards that end"

Sounds pretty interesting!

I'm one of those people that prefer an "everything included" monthly subscription, over a cash shop. It will be interesting to watch the transition though, and I hope it brings FE more players.

Sidenote: Just got the September subscriber rewards in my e-mail. Sexy White Jacket and a Classic Creeper Pet FTW.

Etching your logo on the moon only works if you courting the astronomy nerd market.

Seriously, though. The help channel is going to be hell on the 12th. The GMs are going to have their hands full.

The Help channel is already hell actually, and it's only going to get worse when F2P hits. Luckily we can turn it off and get some peace and quiet when we need a break.

As for subscribing to get everything, you still will be able to, and actually you will get more than you did previously. I'm really not sure about the higher level, more expensive options though. I'm probably going to stick with the comparable cost subscription personally.

One thing that I am still worried about are some of G1's tactics. I think getting rid of the PTS was a terrible idea, and I mean catastrophic terrible. We're already seeing the effects of insufficient testing that that decision has brought in the most recent patch. I really feel that the PTS would have caught the worst of the bugs in 1.9 before they went live. I am also not so sure about the "economy" changes, but I need to take more time with it before I can really be sure...

As for F2P, I am really more worried about the influx of asshats that is sure to come along than anything else. I just hope that G1 embraces the niche that FE fills rather than trying to bend it into something that it shouldn't be... If they ruin this game it will be a real shame.

@Feydakin People were really worried about that with LOTRO too and it never really materialized. I don't think FE, even just in terms of gameplay, is going to encourage a lot of horribly obnoxious people to join... free or not. I don't think the community would support it.

I could be wrong, but I honestly think it'll be OK.

OK. Should I pick up a box copy for $9.99 assuming I get the premium content for month or just wait for FTP? I pick up LOTR before it went free for the Turbine points but I only lasted two months in that aweful game.

@(Unverified) While I would disagree with your assessment that LOTRO is awful -- I love it for what it is, and it's made by classy, intelligent, people whose passion shows in the quality of their product -- this post on the forums is made specifically for you!

Take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt as I'm the interviewee (heh), but everyone who has ever bought a copy before we go F2P will get something ~awesome~ that's definitely worth more than $10, so I'd get in while the gettin's good!
