Big changes are in the offing for Dark Age of Camelot fans. The latest Mythic dev diary sets the stage for a "return home to the Albion, Midgard and Hibernia of old." While the diary is long on pseudo in-character prose, it's short on specific details. What we've gathered, though, is that extensive revamps are in the works for many of the game's quests and more than a few of its classic adventuring locales.
Mythic's Kai Schober says that new and returning players "may be hard-pressed to find their way at the outset of their journey," and as such the devs have set about revisiting many of the game's famous towns and villages with an eye towards modernizing the progression path.
New types of quests are also in store, and the diary describes them as full of "moral deliberation" that will make for "diverse gameplay experiences as well as provide unique item rewards." Read more at the official DAoC website.

Loved this game back in the day. I would think a graphic upgrade would be a higher priority.

New User Experience revamp is what happens before a game goes F2P...just saying.

@Yellowdancer
Never seen EA make a game go F2P as of yet, that includes UO.
But, whatever happens, happens.

I hope it goes F2P though. More people playing is always good.

Glad to see BioWare Mythic (seems that Massively refuses to acknowledge that Mythic Entertainment is no more) is continuing to work on DAoC.

Don't fix what isn't broken. DAOC never needed quests.

"Kai Schober" is not "Talal Saad" ... Talal Saad (aka Eldariian) is a developer , while Kai Schober is a community manager and just posts the stuff the developers write :P

Why don't they just make a DAoC II already?

@Titan1
I used to hope for that exact thing... but with EA in the picture now, I hope they just let it rest in my fondest of MMO memories.

I may resub for a month just to run through Mag Mell again. Probably heartbreakingly empty but the rolling hills of Hibernia were always a special place for me even though my first year or so were spent in Midgard and Albion.

I highly doubt Bioware would make this F2P. It could use some love on the graphics as well, but its still a decent game. It begs to question why it isn't more popular, especially with the crap they have out right now.

@jakofascalon TBH, its not more popular for the exact reason they are doing some of this. It's friggin TOO HARD to get started and know wtf is going on as a new player. Hell, i played DAOC for years in a MAJOR guild and i went back a cpl months ago, and it was a pita for me to figure out what i was supposed to do. The controls are clunky, and you need to know about 300 slash commands to do anything properly.
Quests however, are REALLY not what DAOC needs. It was never about questing, and it never should be. Just funnel people into the PVP bgs and give new players some idea of where to go, and what to do.

@Resurge I suppose you're right. DAOC is about PVP, I mean that's where the most fun was to be had. The problem is that not all people enjoy PVP, so if they revamp the questing system and add some better quests they get happier subscribers and more potential new comers.
However, I completely agree with you that it is hard to get started in DAOC, but it always was. If you were a first time log in, it took you forever to max out, which is why they put in slash leveling to help level alts faster. And even that only leveled you through the fluff. Slash commands? Don't get me started!
Ugh, come back to us DAOC and be a little more user, particularly new user, friendly. I need a good game to play!!!!!
