Undead Labs moving right along with Class3

Class3 - street corner with zombies or something, who knows

The end of September marked a graduation of sorts for members of the Undead Labs development team. The company's untitled maiden voyage has officially crossed the threshold from pre-production to in production, and a blog post on the firm's web site celebrates the milestone with something of a rah-rah speech from founder Jeff Strain.

"I'm blown away by how far we've come in such a short amount of time. Our task now as we move headlong into the production phase is to take this fun little gem and turn it into something we're proud to show the world," Strain wrote.

The gem he's referring to is currently known only by its Class3 codename. We do know that it's about zombies and that it's only for consoles. Aside from that, the title is shrouded in a fair bit of mystery. Strain's post also features a time-lapse video that shows off the game's CryEngine 3-powered time-of-day effects, and you can check that out after the cut.

Sigh, still reporting on this without a Console Only tag.

The vast majority of mmos are PC required, therfore a significant percentage of your readers probably don't own a console. Those readers might like to know its a waste of time reading this.

@FrostPaw console? still waiting for my next gen dreamcast mmorpg as its the only console i own. but i think its fair to say MOST people have atleast a 360 or ps3. maybe not?

and i say keep these articles coming, with a project this early in its production lifecycle, heck, it doesn't even have a name. It may yet be decided to bring it to pc, my guess is its about funding. So if at the end of its life they decide to port it to PC, i like that i heard of it already. my thought was,,,someone actually looks at those tags? :)

@FrostPaw That's a huge stretch. Every PC gamer I know owns at least 1 console.

The reason is because Class 3 is going to be a console title. It is Class 4 that will be the MMO.

So thier tag is not incorrect.

although I'm not 'thrilled' at a zombie mmo, it doesn't have Dwarves or Elves, so I'll probably give it a try based on that alone.

Companies still releasing new AAA mmos with elves and dwarves in 2011/2012 simply need to get a clue what the playerbase is already tired of.

The graphics in this game look very fresh and having that day/night cycle is key.

oh, anyone looking for a good anime series about zombies, check out "High School of the Dead" from Japan.

It has a lot of typical titallation, but aside from that the story and art is really well done. I'm not even a big zombie fan but I actually enjoyed that series

ya the fan service was gratuitous but skipping over that crap the story was solid and had real emotion to it.

the link in the More Coverage section that says "Undead Labs website" just goes to Massively's top.

I don't get why people are getting so hung up on the console part. I'm not gonna disagree that's there's more business politics with consoles, but it's not gonna keep me from playing the game.

I hope UL succeeds, the game looks to be coming along nicely.

Game sounds awesome. Can't wait.

And the fact it's on consoles is refreshing. PC MMOs, as a whole, have grown stale. Maybe it will take console MMOs to change PC MMOs.

I gotta ask what exactly are these guys so thrilled about and what have they worked on in such a short amount of time?

Yeah, the video links to lighting effects of day/evening but...we still haven't gotten much information out of these guys. They are either playing their version of "Smoke and Mirrors" or just releasing these silly statements that give the reader no real "beefy" info.

This is Xbox 360(Class4) and XBLA (Class3) exclusive so instead of saying "consoles" you should say Xbox 360 or it will get PS3 owners excited for nothing.
