BioWare has a message for critical fans who blame the company's perceived inadequacies on its corporate overlords at Electronic Arts. "I always chuckle because we are EA, we're BioWare -- we're both, and we still have huge autonomy in terms of what we do," co-founder Greg Zeschuk recently told Eurogamer.
Zeschuk and partner Ray Muzyka cover a lot of ground during the sit-down, and the docs indicate that they still play BioWare's games despite delegating day-to-day development duties to various project leads. "Most of our games, before we ship them, we finish them several times. The Old Republic, we're probably at that level or higher, in terms of hours," Zeschuk says.
Times have changed though, as both men acknowledge that today's BioWare is not the same company that made Neverwinter Nights or MDK2. "Way, way back, years ago, we didn't even consider those [commercial elements], we just made stuff," Zeschuk explains.

I´m sure EA is as involved in The Old Republic as Activision is with World of Warcraft or Ncsoft with Guild Wars 2.

Does anyone really believe Bioware and not EA set the date for TOR?

Just like Blizzard is completely free to do what they want with no interference whatsoever from Activision. Yep. Activision and EA are such well liked and well run companies they would never do such things.

I LOVE Bioware, but that's bullshit - all you need to do is look at Dragon Age then Dragon Age 2, look at Mass Effect, then Mass Effect 2. Both originals were masterpieces, and both were made, primarily, without EA's intervention. Look at their sequels and its obvious that things were dumbed down, corners were cut, gameplay elements were removed and both sequels IMO were disappointments.
Also, remember Bioware telling us that Dragon Age Origins was going to be a pc-only title? Then they delayed it, and then it was announced that it was cross-platform? Yeah, I'm sure the docs wanted to do that all along.
EA is the anti-Christ of gaming.

Yeah all games have so much they start on before launch with hopes at getting it in by launch, or shortly thereafter. Lotro did this as well and has admitted as much by the devs. That first year and a half Lotro released updates like mad`. Then after Moria it all died off. Your beloved Rift will slow down on the updates eventually. They all do. Its the nature of the beast.

So now i actually can place the blame solely on Bioware for Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 being mainstream pieces of shit? Great. While i did play Mass Effect 2, i didnt not enjoy it anywhere near how much i enjoyed the first Mass Effect 2. Dragon Age 2, the game never fucking existed. I will not be giving into Biowares hype again, ill wait for friend reviews or gamefly it and THEN purchase it. They fucked themselves over with Dragon Age 2, and they will not get over on me again.

Oh god, someone shoot me - I agree with Ren54 again, on that!
"For the amount of money that company makes in a single month there should be almost non stop updates and streams of content. I consider the entire WoW community to be full of sheep following Blizzard as they continue to monopolize the market and try and destroy competition."

Sorry but you're out of line. You're making up facts and mischaracterizing an entire interview. I'm not trolling you by calling attention to the fact that you're making things up and writing about them as if that were true, you simply are. You're trolling Bioware and can't take it if someone points it out.

@Streamweaver See, the problem is that most of you don't understand what a troll is. You can't just call someone a troll for disliking a game. S'not how it works, my friend. It's called differing opinions. Look it up. Or y'know, lurk more.

What an amazingly strange thing to say. He's trolling because he's completely fabricating details, much like you apparently. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking the game.

@Ren54 may be it's cause rift's patches are 1/6 the size and more buggy, also rift having constant events is very good, but that does nothing for new players who missed the previous ones

I'm very disappointed with these guys, falling into the provocation of forum trolls.
No, I don't care who takes marching orders from what - as long as the end product pleases me, they can be receiving orders from the Vatican, al-Qaeda or what have you. Today's gamers are so incredibly spoiled - "oh no, you dare to charge for your product, this should be free!" "what? How dare you try to make a profit!"
Paraphrasing a blue post I once read, if game publishers start to hand out solid gold bars, some people here would whine that they're allergic to gold, or that the Mayans used discs.

no one noticed this?
"BioWare founders: We make the decisions, not EA"
"we are EA"
umm so EA doesn't control anything BUT they ARE EA?!
Yet EA says different
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/36385/Major_Executive_Label_Shifts_At_Electronic_Arts.php
Also why does them not being the same company they were 10 years ago sound SO FAMILIAR?
so familiar..oh where oh where did I hear this before?
OH YEAH! When Brent Knowles left BW he said the SAME EXACT THING.

Oh here go its another SWTOR post ....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbcctWbC8Q0
I think SWTOR will be a fun game to play more then any other MMO I have played. I all so play D&D and Star Wars D20 ( that means tabletop not MMO ) and I love the interaction with NPCs. The most fun is when the rogue tries to get it on with them or the barbarian the litch to go f@$* them selves. On top of it all you get awesome fun of killing thousands of "bad guys" and taking their loot. SWTOR looks like it to me that it will have many of those qualities.
Anywho, the doctor's are cool in my book because they take responsibility for what they and what the BioWare team does. They make great games and it's because they care about what they are doing. Not to say all other devs don't, BioWare just shows it better. Dragon Age2 might not have been the greatest thing since sliced bread but IMO it was still a good game. It was still great BioWare style RPG that I like. If that makes me fan-boy for liking good games then so be it.
