@Oskiee I was hoping to be able to send in a SWTOR screenshot when it released. Now, I won't be able to. :'(

See you on the flip side, One shots. You had me entertained while you were here.

I must be behind on my reading, didn't even realize this was going away! I enjoyed seeing what other games I didn't play had to offer! I'll admit, I didn't click through as often, but I usually did read and look with interest.

If it was a lack of content...well, I have many folder full of beauty shots from various games, I just assumed they would have a ridiculous number of people and screenshots to pull from, so I never submitted (although one of my shots did get top heading for Tabula Rasa -- woot Shawn!).

Sad to see it go. Maybe we can still submit somewhere in case editors needed good screenshots from a game they were talking about.

I LOVE ONE SHOTS. I said a long time ago (when I first started working here iirc) that this was one of the best things about Massively. I mean that. It shows how games ARE art and wonderful in their variety and scope.

I love some of those pics!

@Beau Hindman

Most here have the right perspective concerning One Shots. One commenter with what looks like very badly needed Dental work, doesn't. Regardless, I agree with you Beau. As I said in a previous post when this was first announced, One Shots sets Massively apart from other sites. It truly appreciates the art of games. I can only hope Massively has plans to make a better and improved type of One Shots Column. I check out all of the One Shots pics, and it truly has given me a new appreciation for the art of games. And it has also prodded me to try a few I wouldn't have otherwise. I wonder what John Lane thinks of this...

never liked one shots.

"Here is my level 12 wizard in jerkmoor taken in 640 x 480 on my commodore 64 with a 5 dollar video card..."

But just because I didn't like it doesn't mean it caused me any hardship.

Scrollwheels are awesome you should try em.

Perhaps we could do some type of virtual Occupy Massively.com type protest to save One Shots? Not sure how that would work. Send tons of screenshots to all the staff's email accounts? I've got many many pics just from Guild Wars alone!

I love OneShots!! If I would start a blog, it would be a daily screenshot one. Sadly, I only play one game at a time so it wouldn't be very diverse ;-)

I will miss this column :(

Hi, Mother's Love here from City of Heroes / Champions Online.

Has it really been SIX years since we did that Christopher Reeve Memorial on Union? O.O - Time flys!.

It was a great event and I'm honoured it caught the player's Imagination and the press' attention. It was quite a moving event and I'm sure I'll be helping commemorate the tenth anniversary of his passing.
Maybe with a little help from sites such as Massively we could advertise the event even more ahead of time and perhaps sort out some kind of donation to his charity.

Why not get rid of "Global Chat"? Now that's a stupid column... Or WRUP. One shots was much better than those...

I've always enjoyed One Shots and will miss its daily offerings. As to a favorite, I'm a bit partial to my own submission from LOTRO which ran on Christmas Day (if not very close to it) a few years back.

yea i actually really appreciate it, and admit i only ever submitted one thing to it...

To think we are losing this because of a lack of participation makes me feel guilty for not sending all my screenshots in. I think it is just highly under appreciated and i hope you guys reconsider. Its going to be one of those things people complain about if it goes away, trust me.

Its funny, i even have a folder called "oneshots" full of potential images i wanted to submit but never did.

One shots is like chicken soup, so sad to see it go.

It's strange the column should be discontinued for want of content. I've sent in a few screenshots over the years, but not a single one was ever posted.

I won't claim to be some sort of Ansel Adams, but the lack of response I got made me shrug, say, "I guess they have a bunch of better stuff in the backlog already," and stop sending them in.

I think Massively workers take themelves way too seriously. This is an mmorpg blog/type site. This isnt a million dollar website and only a few of the names on this website actually get paid. One Shots is probably the one thing that EVERYONE will look at and/or comment on. Also, if they just asked for submissions and said they didnt have many, EVERYONE would send in submissions. But they didnt say anything so most of us assumed there were soo many already ours didnt have a chance.

1- Have a one shots -type of column., wherre you post a pic and reaDERS CAN UPLOAD RESPONse picturs in the comments (or keep it way it is)

2 - have more REAL mmorpg players. Way too many on your staff only care about level rushing, gear grinding etc.. instead of just PLAYING THE GAME

3- add a little oomph to the website. Bare bones is fine, but with the popularity and ad-revenue massively and joystiq have, a more interactive site wouldnt hurt.

Oh and realize that only a certain percentage of mmo players know this site exists, maybe .001% so promotion would be good so that you can cater to a larger population

last.. BRING BACK ONE SHOTS there are PLENTY of other columns that myself and many others skip entirely.

Thank you for this. This is probably the funniest thing I've read all week. Your ironic sense of humor and completely made-up facts had me in stitches. Good show :)

Wait, you were serious?
