While Star Wars: The Old Republic has long since displayed its many, many planets on its Holonet page, BioWare's just released a brand-new map that lets you explore the entirety of the galaxy in three dimensions.
The Galaxy Map serves to give players a good feel for how enormous the Star Wars setting is as well as where all of these planets stand in relation to each other. While there are billions of star systems, only a handful support life and will be featured in the game proper.
The map is divided up into five major sectors: Coreward Worlds, Unknown Regions, Seat of the Empire, Hutt Space, and Distant Outer Rim. Players can check out the 17 revealed planets within those sectors as well as an up close and personal view of each of the six player starships.
It's important to note that the use of the 3-D galaxy map requires the installation of the Unity web player onto your computer.

This is pretty cool. You can even look at the star ships in 3D too. Very awesome.

Yeah, funny enough the trolls show up almost immediately after you. I am not real sure of what the unity web player is thou. I am going to go look the software up and see what it does.

It sounded cool but when I looked at it I wasn't impressed.

Actually not true, they are missing 3 of the starter planets. Why they have one in and not the others, I have no idea.

@Ren54 Well no. Think of each of the worlds more like Northrend, Azeroth or the Outlands. There is very little loading screen type deals on each world. Some group or personal instances for moving the quest/story line forward appropriately, but it's 90% big open seamless areas like wow is.

@(Unverified) each planet does not equal a warcraft continent. They're all very nice railed zones though. You'll never get lost.

@Ren54 that 200 hours part has a whole lot of caveats to it.

You said like an idiot moron who clearly hasn't spent time in the game.
Each of the normal Planets has a size that comes close to Rift's world or a smaller WoW continent (Outland, Northrend).
But hey, haters gonna hate.
