Although I think that it, if properly developed and implemented, would make a fantastic mmo I don't hold out any hope that Dune will see the mmo light of day in any significant way.

@EuchridEucrow

I completely agree. A Dune MMO would be so great and easy to translate into an MMO, but I don't ever see it happening. They already have a system where people use daggers and shields so you don't have to make some horse$#&t up about someone spamming a heal on you.

Same goes for Stargate IMO. There was that Stargate Worlds MMO that was supposed to come out but has since gone into indefinite "pre-production" lol.

On another note that not quite related, Ragnarok Online 2 was supposed to be released in america like 4 years ago. I don't think it'll ever see the light of day in the US.

Uh, RO2 has been completely scrapped and rebuilt since then, they literally started over, changed the name and all.

Huxley, atleast not in computers outside beta-testers in South Korea even though it was there on Ijji and someone had bought the NA publishing rights. Sigh, it was one of my most anticipated games for over 5 years.
Have finally given up now.

Yeah, I vote Huxley too. I actually worked on English language localisations for that bastard back in 2008, and the PPT they provided me with for reference made it look awesome. With PS2 approaching, well, ... pfft.

@xyna031 It kinda is already. More like a co-op sandbox but what would you want to see? Boring quests added? It's perfectly fine the way it is, imo

@Grumms I think Minecraft has captured the MUD-era mystique. It's recaptured the love that got sucked out of the genre by the establishment studios.

Minecraft is massive enough for my family and friends. It's multiplayer. It's online, and -- most of all -- it's MY world, MY server, MY rules and fits on a thumb drive.

As far as the original question... I'm beginning to wonder if Titan isn't turning into vaporware.

I have a bare-bones idea for a MechWarrior MMO. It'll never happen, and I'll be honest, the longer time goes on without hearing anything about the franchise reboot that was planned the more I'm thinking that universe is pretty well dead as far as video games go. But I think that it could be done, and done well.

@Hardcover

Problem would be grouping, since planets in the Battletech universe were usually taken by less than 10 'Mechs.

@alimantando Maybe in the first couple of Succession Wars, but I know in pretty much everything after the Fourth Succession War, if you wanted to make a serious bid for a world, you were looking at sending at least a couple of regiments of BattleMechs. Granted, a lot of the Periphery and House backwater systems didn't need that kind of firepower, but still. And then if you tossed the Clans into the mix, well... now you're talking armies.

That being said, I don't think grouping would really be a problem. My idea had been sort of like a combination of MechWarrior Living Legends, crossed with the Mech Assault 2 conquest mode. Declare for a House, select a specialization (BattleMech, Aerospace, vehicle, or infantry), and as you level you get access to heavier machines and more powerful and advanced equipment. Combine that with assignments against NPCs in your house space, PVP along your house's border zones, and having the ability for player-created units (read: guilds) to elect to go merc.

@Dumac that might be exactly right. James cameron thought that "Avatar: The Game" would be succesfull if he just made a few Custom Vehicles for the game. James Cameron has no idea what gamers want, and he has far to much to say for a succesful production of a game.
